I was thinking an Ugly Betty costume would be cool:


*Dark brown or black wig with bangs


*Red frame glasses


*The eyebrows, either drawn on or find like fake mustaches to use as eyebrows.


*A Hello, my name is (write in Betty) name tag.


*And of course, some ridiculous outfit.


*New idea!  Your purse could be a tote and stencil the words "Mode" on it!


I think just about everyone would know who you were!

I made up my mind: I'm going to be a witch. But a FOXY witch... a mysterious and scary, young and foxy witch! Basically it's just an excuse to wear a comfy black dress, warm black tights, foxy black boots, and funky makeup and call it a night... and I won't have to buy anything new! Plus I'm psyched to do sort of an old-school Halloweeny costume. Will post pics for sure.

I've been a Pirate the last two years but I kinda want to do it again. Oh I might have to steal the "Devil wears Prada" idea...that's a good one!


The smoking jacket comment reminded me of three years ago when my boyfriend and I went as "porn stars".  I found a completly tacky silk robe for me and velvet robe for him.  I stuffed my robe so I had Dolly Parton like breasts and we stuffed a leg of pantyhose for his...well to make him VERY well endowed.  I painted both of of robes to say "Porn Star" on the back and on the front our names.  I remember mine was "Fonda Cox".  God it was so tacky but so funny...

For you pirate girls...what do you usually do for your hair?  Hat?  Bandana?  Any tricks to keeping the bandana on all night?  Usually I have to adjust it, I wouldnt want to be messing with it all night.

If you wear a bandana you can try bobby pins in the same color as the bandana to hold it in place.

I was going to go look for a pirate hat today before I go out tonight. For the hair, I was going to wear it all wild and curly and put a few little braids in it here and there.

Thanks for the idea travelgirl!  I used it for parties and going out last night it was fun...Oh for girls still thinking of something a friend went as a Christmas Present with a wrapping paper skirt, bows all over, a shoebox (wrapped) on her head and a card around her neck it was hilarious.

You look so cute!  I didn't end up dressing up so I am glad I am able to live vicariously through you!  Glad the idea worked!
