I saw a category about adoption-- but how about something for step kids- mixed families something like that ? --- or a general category about difficult situations where all of those kind of topics could be posted about? or is that too indepth and would it cause too many sticky situations? or.... should I just forget this and put it in the "anything else" category hehe

okay, i'll preface this by saying that it's awesome to expand stylethread and add a special section for the new moms, moms to be, since there seem to be a ton. but i kind of agree about it possibly separating us. couldn't we just expand the general forum so that it has a header for mom related issues, like the way we have headers for style, our community, and hot topics. so maybe there would be a separate header for parents, and then under it would be subtopics for conception, adoption, baby style, etc.

maybe i'm just being lazy/selfish, but i feel like i'm not really going to be active in the new forum b/c that phase of my life is very far away, but i don't want to miss out on the baby pics, and stuff like that, b/c i really do enjoy seeing them. just my $0.02.

"the new site is in no way supposed to separate us, but to provide a more in-depth leg to stylethread. I also think the the interests of the ST mom go beyond just being a mom, so I can't imagine current ST members' interests would be confined to one community or another - this is just another facet to our present ST culture. sure - new people may show up there that are interested in that site only, but I would imagine the true STers will still consider ST the "main" site."

you'll just have to make a point to pop your head in there on occasion to check things out. I am planning on placing a link to it in this forum as well (and vice versa).

I think there was some misinterpretation in my asking for suggestions. the existence of mamastyle.com was not in question (this has been a long-term, thought-out decision, not a whim). It is content for the new site that I'm looking for ideas on.

If anyone has ideas for mamastyle, I'd love to hear them!

I think it's a good idea and it won't separate us. I don't really post kid pics or questions/concerns because I don't feel like everyone wants to see or hear about it, especially if they are not a mom, don't like kids, or whatever the case is. I think mamastyle is a good thing.

When I first saw it I thought it had the possibility of separating us. After seeing it actually being used I think it is a great idea. Since they kind of have their own space and they can talk about whatever they want to talk about.

I like the new site detroit!! excellent job so far. I'm still a few years away from being a mom or even thinking about it but I have a cousin with a young one we shop for and bf has 2 small nieces to shop for so I'll definetly be checking the site for ideas!

The new site seems really interesting and fun already! I'm not a mom but I'm really beginning to look forward to becoming one after all this exposure to motherhood-related stuff.

I've added a link to the top of the forum so you can toggle back and forth between stylethread & mamastyle (the logo is temporary - still trying to work out some kinks on why it looks funky)

well i just checked out mama style and i love it. it is great. there is not another site like it that i have been able to find. i don't have any suggestions for the site, as everyone else has covered anything i could think. great job!!!!!
