Wow, you are going to look smashing! And Detroit did a bang-up job finding the perfect necklace for that dress. When I saw the dress, I was thinking an MJ-type shoe to go with since it does look vintage but maybe with a pointy toe for sexy/sweet contrast:
or, maybe even a d'orsay pump:

I think my ankles are too wide for those, but oh how I'd love to have the comfort of wedges!!! These are the style of maryjane I was imagining. Or are these considered maryjanes?:
these, my dear, are peep toe slingbacks with a scalloped edge. I like the idea of peep toes with it... those would be cute in black - although I'm not liking the diamond pattern of the dress with the scalloped edge of the shoe...

Yeah, I know. But I was thinking something along the lines of that or an open-toes MJ. I like open toe just so my tootsies can stay toasty yet get a little air!
I have these MJs in blue that you could buy in black. They're really cute IRL, very 50s & were really affordable, they're 4" though, I dont know if the height is a problem for you.
do you have a TJ Maxx or Marshall's near you? I have always found nice, inexpensive formal shoes there... also DSW...
I do, but my feet are teensy - 5.5 ideally - so it's hard to find my size there............. Plus I'm hoping to find something online so I don't have to drag my kids out!
everytime i dress someone in dresses like this i have been finding the closed toe shoes actually look much nicer.
from macy's $99
$49 from victoria's secret
$68 from victoria's secret
comes in black too. i wonder if you could take the bow off? $59.
i think the last three you would/could wear again. HTH! you are going to look smashing!

oh and can i also suggest..don't do anything that will tie up the leg. it tends to cuts ones leg off, especially with that cut of dresses. i HATE when little teeny boppers have their mom buy a $400 dress and then INSIST on dressing around those tie up the leg shoes cuz they think they're fun. . they look even smaller and ridiculous and their mom is down $600! end rant.

BQ - Those are both cute! I'm not sure about the heel height since I really never wear much of a heel. Might be deadly????? Shopgirl - I like those last ones, bow and all! Detroit - I'm such a loser. I clicked over to bid (I'm a sniper), and it had just ended
those were my favorite bow and all (i just didn't know if you were a bow person). don't worry about the auction. i bought some jet black jewelry at F21 and it's all over nordstroms, ebay, etc.. just know that you don't have to pay a ton for it (i don't think i would even pay what nordstrom is charging).

Let me know what you finally do with shoes and jewelry because I just bought that dress too for a holiday function. I fell i love with it and it was such a good price. I hope it fits now.
How would these shoes look w/ the dress? Too chunky, or do they give it a nice vintage appeal?
I'm not feeling it... they seem too casual. I feel like you need simple black velvet, satin, or grosgrain (sp?) (like the grosgrain rosette shoes)with that dress - there's a lot going on with the dress in pattern and texture, so I wouldn't stray too far from what's already going on... does that make sense?
oh - love that JCP necklace that was posted... I think that would look really nice with it.
another comment - someone said something about tie-up-the-leg shoes - whenever I wear that style, I never tie them up my leg, I just wrap the ties comfortably around my ankle and tie them in a bow in the back...
