well, i don't have any close friends near me (they live all across the US) and once a year we ALL get together for a week at the beach.  no boys allowed!  we all talk on the phone and email constantly.  only one of us is sans BF... i feel that we are still in good contact.


so, i have no idea what it is like to have a group of girlfriends nearby to hang out with... which i wish i had.  but i imagine that if i planned a girls night out, and the BFs tagged along, i would be ticked!  so, instead, i work by myself all week and the BF and i hang out and have fun together on the weekends...


gosh- after re-reading this- my life sounds pretty lame!

I thought of something else, I remember that when I was single and hung out with mostly single friends a lot, sometimes a friend has an insecure boyfriend or girlfriend who doesn't want their SO out alone in a singles environment, like a bar or club on a weekend.  So rather than just not show at all, the SO is brought along.  I think this is kind of a maturity thing, as I am now at the end of my twenties, my single and non-single girlfriends definitely value more no guys allowed time, but these days for me it's not about going out to a crowded singles bar, it's more about dining and having maybe one drink or two and talking all night
