Does anyone here who has AT&T/Cingular for their cell phone provider have, or know anything about their Equipment Protection Program? I have this on my bill - I pay $4.99/month extra for it, and I'm wondering how it works. SO's phone literally died last night - it started it where his ear piece wasn't working, and now it's completely dead and black. So, he needs a new phone. Will the equipment protection plan cover this? Will they give him a new phone? Anyone know the details? Thanks!
Your best bet is to just call and talk to customer service and ask them if you can go into a store and get one or if they have to overnight one. I have found there customer service to very helpful since switching to At&t

I'm pretty sure that this is the plan that the bf and I have and he's replaced his phone- but just beware, the new phone will cost 50$. I'm almost positive that the BF had to pay 50$ for the new phone. Almost.

Yep, most of the cell companies outsource this service to a company called Asurion (not sure if ATT/Cingular do, but if not, another company does the same thing). Anyway, they will send/overnight the phone. Be aware that in most cases they must send a comparable phone, but it doesn't have to be the exact phone, so make sure that is discussed. Also, they won't necessarily (and probably won't) send him a new phone. They replace phones with refurbished, so have him look it over well when it is received and make sure it works well, no scratches, etc.
