Upset, what should i do?

I just got back from a meeting with a school organization im in and I feel like I got all the work dumped on me!

My org is organizing a paintball event and theres four people on the committee, I got the task of Advertising.  Im in charge of getting posters tshirts and pamphlets made AND making sure they are posted and handed out to the entire campus, let me say that my campus is huge, its has the largest student body in the country.  On top of that, im in charge of handling the budget for this.

Ok this all wouldnt be that bad except that this is only my second year here and i dont know anything about how to get all this done (there is so much red tape you have to go through)

I just feel so overwhelmed with this whole project and feel really uncomfortable doing it because I have no idea how to utilize the resources at this school since I didnt go to undergrad there.

My other option is to switch with another girl in my group who is in charge of doing like 10 presentations about the event to undergrad dorm rooms.  I feel more comfortable doing this, but i dont think i have this much availablity in my schedule

Also, I mentioned my uncomfortableness and worries to the chair of this committee and they basically said, this is my responsibility!  I feel like it is too much for me to handle.

What should I do?  Im so upset and STRESSED I feel like just quitting the whole organization all together

That is completely crazy. I would go to the chairs of your committee and ask (demand) that they give you an advertising sub committee to help you out with all of this. And if that doesn't work, go to the Pres. of the organization and let them know that it's nearly impossible for one person to do all of this work. That is extremely poor planning on the part of your committee chair. Organizations are supposed to add to your educational experience, not BE your educational experience. It sounds like your committee chairs are trying to do as little as possible by assigning as much as possible to everyone else.

Can you just recruit people for a subcommitte? If you ask the chair, she wont' want to make a decision and she wont' want to have to find people for you. (That's what hte "responsibility" crap means). But if you divide the job into tasks, and start asking different people to do just that one task, it will probably get done quickly with a lot less stress on you (except the usual sub-contractor stress - but that's still better than doing all the work yourself. As for finding people, just anyone you know who's interested in the organization. All your friends, obviously. Anyone else form the organization who might be able to do you a favor. Anyone who owes you a favor. And anyone else you can find. Good luck!
