Today's Purchases...Keep or Return?

First, the top. A mere $9 at Express...but I am thinking it's too va-va-voom on its own, and I don't think any of the gazillion camis I own will work under it. First, cami-less pics, then with a basic black. I like having more coverage, but I kind of think it looks like I'm wearing a sports bra underneath. :(

Next, the dress. I found this on sale for $30 ($30!!) at Club Monaco today. I love the color, the fit, and the price. *But* can y'all see those weird little puckers in the front? I think they may bug me too much to really enjoy wearing the dress, which sucks because otherwise I think I'd wear it a lot.

Thoughts??

I think the top is *just* va-va-voom enough... I think you can definitely go without a cami. If you're not comfortable with that, though, I'd return it. With the cami I think it looks weird.

The dress is really pretty except for the puckers. I don't think you'd wear it just because of that, which is a shame.

The top looks great on you without a cami. I don't think it's too revealing at all.

Those puckers on the dress would probably bother me, too, and I would probably return it, although reluctantly.

Thanks! I am self-conscious about showing cleavage lately...some of the guys in our group of friends *always* give me grief whenever I have even a little going. I should just ignore them.

I think I might talk to the tailor about those damn puckers. I really like this dress, but you're right that I will feel self-conscious every time if they don't go away.

why is the fabric puckering?  do you think they can be ironed out?

I agree with the other girls too.  That top looks beautiful on you!  I think the black cami looks a little odd because it's poking out on the sides.  I think you could wear that top with a jacket so there's less skin overall if that's making you feel self conscious, or wear it with the cami underneath and just wear a jacket over it to cover up the sides.  I think it looks great on its own too.

The dress is beautiful.  It fits really nicely on you and the color is to die for with your complexion.  I think that a tailor would be able to fix those little puckers.  Those would drive me crazy, even though probably no one else would notice them, but just knowing they were there would bug me.

lynnie, I don't know why the fabric is puckering. I might try to see if the puckers can be ironed to lay flat

NC, thanks for the nice compliment on the dress. I love that color blue and haven't had anything in it for years. I really want to keep this dress if it's feasible. $30 means I have some $$ to put toward tailoring (if necessary) before deciding it's not worth it. :)

I think the dress is adorable on you.  I would just try the ironing thing or try toaking it to a drycleaner who may be able to press out the pucker.  The top's cute too

That dress is nice.  I'd try to iron out the puckers.

You look so pretty in both but if you're like me and  feel uncomfortable for ANY reason, you probably won't wear them. In this case it's like having two 20 dollar bills hanging from a hanger instead of a top and a dress you LOVE and reach for again and again.

As far as the cami, if the side coverage is enough for your comfort level how about adding just a bit of quality lace (or other material) just at the V? That would give you the coverage you want and add texture/interest at the same time. I would definitely  take the dress in to see if anything can be done to give you a smooth line ...those puckers look like sewing errors. I'd be curious if ironing them made them go away permanently.
