We need to buy a fridge for our kitchen...

as you can see below...the cabinets are white...the microwave and oven are black, you can't see the dishwasher, but it is white...we are painting the walls soon, so they will not remain white....what color fridge should we get?  black to match the other two apps closest to it....white to match the cabinets (there is a pantry right next to it)  The fridge will go just next to the oven

I love stainless steel, but don't think we should add a third color here...what are your thoughts?

Since stainless is a grey, silvery shade, I don't think of it as a "color," but a neutral that goes with everything (especially in a kitchen).  I'd personally go with the stainless, but black is a safe bet, too.

my thoughts too. Plus, if you like stainless and will eventually replace the other appliances, you can just add as you go. If not, I'd go with black.

What an awesome kitchen, btw! I loooove that fireplace!

I think you can go with stainless. My parents have a black oven and all other appliances are stainless... it works well because they accent with stainless accessories, and the sides of the stainless appliances (fridge, microwave) are black.

I agree with eurodaisy. Stainless really isn't a "color." I think I would rather see a nice stainless ice box than some big ol' black or white monster waiting to swallow your food. Plus you know everyone will be so taken by your rockin' fireplace to even stop and think "hmm..what in the world was that Kari thinking buying a stainless ice box when she ALREADY has a white dishwasher and a black microwave." Go stainless. But make sure you get the kind that doesn't show fingerprints.

I have a stainless fridge with white appliances and I don't think anything about them not "matching".  I love your fireplace, by the way.

I'd go with white.  Since most of your other applicances are black I think it might look to hodge podge-y to go with stainless.  And the white fridge will blend in with your cabinets.  And love, love, love that fireplace!  What color are you painting the walls?

Black is indeed the logical choice in terms of look/style, unless you truly plan on replacing the other appliances soon. Sandy is correct though about most 'stainless' appliances incorporating black somehow, so that wouldn't be a terrible choice. If you go with stainless, I'd make refacing the D/W a priority. If it's fairly new, there may be a kit you can buy to change it. Worth a shot.

I generally find mismatched stainless steel to be more obvious than mismatched white or black, so you may want to have that in the back of your mind moving forward. Do whatchalike, keeping in mind continuity just for resale value if nothing else.

P.S. I'm looking at your photos, and the black microwave really sticks out. Maybe it is a good idea to replace the appliances with stainless. It's certainly a higher-end look and it will probably pay for itself in resale.

P.P.S. i realize I'm totally unhelpful and have more questions than answers. So sorry! Whatever I said, I stand by it 100%...

If you dont have plans on changing the other appliances out soon I would go with white. I think with the white cabs it would blend nicely and not stick out, like black or stainless would. If you are planning on swaping out slowly but surely stainless would look great. I just would not add a 3rd element to the appliance colors.

I agree. I would definitely go with white. Given the look and style of the rest of your kitchen, I think stainless might look too modern in there, black might look harsh (even though the other appliances are black, a fridge is just so big that it stands out more), so I think white would blend in with the cabinets.

Definitely white.  The black would just look big and bulky and it would really stick out in a kitchen with white cabinets.  I wouldn't introduce stainless--it would look too hodge-podgy.

Cute kitchen, by the way.  I love it!
