what are some good brands of watches??
Permalink Closed

I have been wearing my watch every day, to bed and to shower, for 9 years.  It's a fossil watch, and it still works, so i have a strong attachment to it- i almost don't want to ever get a new watch.  However, since i ponder this more and more every year- what are some good watch brands?  Something utilitarian and not fashiony- i don't want a gucci or marc jacobs watch for example.  I was thinking Swiss Army or Swatch or something- someone known more for their watches and with more of a masculine edge.  i like the style of this:

Swiss Army 24023

i also like those watches with the three little dials in the middle.

I Love , love , love michele watches. I own a couple and they are fabulous. They make them with and without diamonds.

Here is a non diamond style that you might like .....

(one of my watches.... I LOVE this watch!)

I have the exact Swiss Army watch you posted, except it has a white face. Anyways, I love it. I've had mine for almost two years and it's held up very well. I'm very hard on my watches, and it has scratches on the band, but the dial has yet to get a scratch.

This probably isnt what your looking for but I have a couple coach watches from the Movado outlet that have lasted years.  Movado makes all the watches in the Movado outlet and then the companys designs/add straps so its good quality.

Okay-since I used to be a Victorinox Swiss Army watch  rep, I feel compelled to comment.  First of all, it sounds like Swiss Army would be a good fit for you for a few reasons:

-You are looking for classic, not trendy. SA fits the bill for this.

-You are hard on watches.  SA'a are great because you can shower in them, swim in them-basically never take them off.  They have a 3 year warranty and are water-resistant and some have a sapphire crystal face (for example the "Officer" style has this and the sapphire crystals are extremely durable and scratch resistant).

Now, if you decide on a Swiss Army, make sure it is Victorinox Swiss Army (not Wenger).  You can buy Victorinox SA's at Macy's, Nordstrom, Von Maur, Bloomies, etc.  I LOVE my Swiss Army watches-I NEVER take mine off (seriously, I really do shower and swim in without taking it off).   By the way, the one you posted is the one I have been wearing for 3 years now (mine has a white face too though)!

I would also recommend Swiss Army. I've had this men's Officer 1884 watch since 10th grade (I'm 26). I love it because it's so classic, basic and I like the mens version better because of the big face. My other everyday watch is a classic Tiffany and the Swiss Army keeps much better time.

I agree with Swiss Army.  I've had mine for 7 years & abuse it terribly.  I finally scratched the face of the watch during an office move, but only b/c I moved a ton of filing cabinets & desks.

Good luck.

I have a Timex that is decades old -- it was my grandmother's -- and it still works and looks great! I also have a Citizen Eco Drive that I love. It never needs a battery.

thanks girls!!  i had no idea that swiss army had such a following- i just was like, oo the knife brand!  I love the black face and shape.

Girls with other suggestions and SA watches- can you post pics of your models?  I may get one in the next year or so.  its just so hard to justify w/o NEEDING a new watch.
