I am composing a scrapbook that will only consist of printed out news articles from the internet.  Right now I have probably over 100 news articles Id like to include. 


When I start a scrapbook I usually quickly have a vision of how Id like to compose/create it.  But this time I have no clue, ive never made one that consisted of so many articles and only of printed paper in black and white. 


The articles are just sports articles and they span from year 2000 to present.  I would like to incorporate them all so removing some, isn't really an option.


Im looking for lots and lots of creative ideas of how to compile this book. 


Here are few musts I need:


1. How to layout the articles i.e. should I place a colored paper behind them to make them stand out? Any other techniques or suggestions?  That may get monotonous.


2. What the title or cover page should be.  (this scrapbook is basically chronicaling the life of an athlete for the last seven years)

I would say that to break up the boringness of the black and white, print the articles on colored paper. I would break them up into the different sports teams that you are using and use the team colors and mascots to accordidngly. If this is all about one person then find all of the articles about when they were on x sports team and use those colors for that section, and then do the same for y and z sports team as well that will allow you to put multiple articles on one page and tie them together. HTH, and remember to have fun!

When I do my scrapbooks, I usually print out lots of text on white paper and stick colored paper behind it to make it pop. 


You could also print the articles on transparent paper (I can't remember what it's called) and then place that on top of a copy of a photo.  That would give it a really cool effect.


I also like using different materials to attach different elements to the scrapbook: grommets, ribbon, etc.

I think to make it interesting you need to add pictures to go with the articles.  A sb of just articles would be difficult to do.  do you have any pics?  if so, i'd try to use enough to do 2 or so for each article.  if you don't have photos relating to the particular event, you could just use photos of the person in the picture. 


i would definitely go to a kinkos or other copy place and minimize the article so it doesn't take up so much space.  if the guy for whom you are making this already has the articles, it won't matter if they are in tiny print and it will be much easier to work with and look better in the sb.  it's the idea of the articles i assume that you are scrapping more than the articles mfor their content, right?  you definitely need to mount them on colored paper to make them pop.  ncshopper's suggestion of printing the articles on transparent paper (vellum) and placing them on top of a sports picture is a little more work, but an excellent idea.  i've seen this done with photos and it looks good.  also, i would categorize the photos somehow so that you can have some sort of title for each page, then decorate each page with a picture/article collage and decorative wording describing the article and pictures.  does that make sense?  i hth some!

It would be interesting to look through magazines and get color clippings of words that have to do with the article then include them on the page.  For instance: if the article is about a big game that the team won find words like victory, success, etc.

try going to Hobby Lobby or some craft store. I was in HL yesterday and I wished I had a scrapbook because some of the stickers, etc. that they sell for scrapbooking let you be pretty creative for little effort.
