Wedding shoes questions!
Permalink Closed

I am getting married in September. My dress isn't going to come in until April, but I'd like to start looking at shoes sooner rather than later.

If possible, I would like to buy shoes that I could wear again. And I would like strappy rather than closed-toe.

This is a kind of weird picture of my dress (it is much cuter in real life):

It is ivory, with the taupe sash that is pictured.

Before I picked my dress, I had kind of pictured that I would go for silver strappy sandals, because I could wear them over and over again after the wedding. But would that work with the taupe? Would gold strappy sandals look better? Or should I go the more traditional route and go for ivory or taupe satin because gold or silver wouldn't be right with the dress? I can't figure out what would look right.

If the answer is ivory or taupe, how easy/successful would it be to have them dyed black after the wedding?

Thanks!

I think gold would be really pretty. Btw, your dress is gorgeous!

I think a golden tone shoe would be more complimentary than a silver tone one.

Hardly anyone will actually see your feet. I am totally in favor of re-wearable shoes. I wore some untraditional ones for my wedding and I'm thrilled.

You can dye satin ones a new color, but they will still look like bridesmaides shoes.

I say go for the fun ones!

whenever I wear taupe, I wear silver with it. I vote silver.

I think silver - gold seems to clash to me.

Really pretty dress! What about a pewter colored shoe?

Not necessarily those shoes, but maybe that color would work.

I totally agree about fun wedding shoes.  I wore a cream dress and peach metallic sandals.  I think spending on beautiful shoes for the wedding that you can wear again is totally worth it - I was in mine for 12 hours and my feet were fine at the end.

I love the idea of pewter or silver with the dress you posted.  BTW - your dress is GORGEOUS!

Love that dress!  I think I would do a bronze strappy sandal.

I think silver would look great with the sash.

Your dress is beautiful!  I think silver or pewter would work best for shoes.

Thank you all for your good suggestions!!! I'm very happy that the consensus is that I get to buy fun shoes that I can wear again!
