Anyone up for weight loss support again?
Permalink Closed

I am back to being serious about the weight thing & last year our "support group" really helped me - D&E posts or emails - whatever - I have to assume I'm not the only one feeling chubby this morning.

Ugh, I feel gross.  I haven't weighed myself in months because I'm afraid of what it will be!  So yes, I'm totally up for it again.  Good idea!

I'm in.

I just finished reading "You on a Diet" and it was great.  Dr. Oz (the guy that's always on Oprah and one of the book's authors) suggests a two week diet that he maps out in the book.  I'm going to give it a shot for two weeks and see how things go.

I feel disgusting this morning, by the way.  Last night we decided to have a gourmet grilled cheese smackdown (brie with pancetta, pesto, caramelized onions, and apples) with champagne and cider beer.  I feel like a greaseball this morning.

I'm joining a new gym tomorrow...20lbs by March!!!

Yes!!!  I am back to 150 after losing down to 129 2 years ago.  It sucks.  I had a healthy breakfast and will do the same for dinner tonight.  I'm all for trying to do the daily D&E posts and maybe weekly emails again.  I really liked those.  I just got 3 new cookbooks and a crock pot for xmas so I will be cooking and posting recipes like crazy.

I want to lose 10-15 lbs. It would help if I posted my calories in the D&E. I hope that won't annoy/bother anyone.

I'd like to give this a try too..  I had lost some weight from June - December (I swear its just from the stress of school because I wasn't on any type of diet or anything).

But being home for the holidays I feel like I might have gained a few pounds even though I haven't noticed it yet.  And Id also like to lose those few last pesky pounds.

My goal is to lose 10 lbs by the time I have to start wearing spring/summer clothes.

I go back to school tomorrow and Im going back to eating healthy organic foods including lots of vegetables.  I plan drinking ONLY water, which for me is very doable.  And my biggest hurdle is getting back into the gym and working out on a regular basis.  I can't tell you the last time I went for a run

Yes! I've been so lazy lately and I've gained back a decent portion of the weight I lost after having my daughter in May. I just joined a great gym that's about five minutes from my house so I have no excuses. I'm also going to try to cook more and improve my eating habits. I don't always make the best choices when it comes to food.

I'm with Jahni on this...20 pounds by March!

Count me in! I found the support group last year really helpful as well. Let it fall by the side and now I feel gross!

Me too!  I breastfed for a year and lost 25 lbs. of pre-baby weight.  I felt so good, but the whole time I was thinking....I have to find a way to not gain this back.  Well, I'm currently *gaining weight* and it needs to stop NOW!  I've been using (well not really) www.sparkpeople.com it's free, but I'm debating on WW online.  Maybe if I have to pay for it I will actually do it!  HELP!!!!

Count me in....I gained 25 lbs after moving to Atlanta (stress, poor diet, stress...) and have discovered fat in places where I thought no fat could develop. Not to mention that before that I could've stood to lose about 20 lb already before I left LA.

UGH!

I MUST lose all the ATL weight before April.

Good god, count me in. I tried to keep the holiday bulge in the 5 pound range but it's 8.5 as of yesterday afternoon. Sheesh! In a month? I am ashamed. And a little amused (but I realize that's a wholly unproductive attitude so I'm trying to curb it a bit).

The bad part is that I was on a good roll last fall (down 13 from September 1 through Thanksgiving) but now it's time to re-focus, re-strategize, and re-something else I haven't thought of yet.

Plus I promised myself a massage when I get down 20, and my shoulders are seriously aching. Hurry up 15.5!!

Ok I'm definitly joining the bandwagon of this support group! I'm gonna start posting on Monday b.c. I'm leaving to go to D.C. for a few days. I'm currently around 134 but want to lose around 15-20 pounds by the end of March...I guess that's an okay goal, around 5 lbs a month. I can't fit into some of my old clothes and DO NOT want to have to buy bigger sizes for all the cute new spring stuff. Plus I want to start working out more too....I used to run 2 miles several times a week, but my lazy ass could probably barely run one mile now...TIME TO GET IN SHAPE!! Ok good luck to everyone this week and see you Monday!

Oooh oooh me too! I want to join in! I have found this fab new site that I loooove and have been using the diet tracker each day. Its amazing how much easier it is to be diligent when you are keeping track of it visually. Here it is - girlawhirl.com - all the lists are in the "handbag". I want to lose 10 lbs. I don't care so much about the number as much as I want to fit back into my clothes! So, if the number stays the same b/c I am building muscle and the flab disappears than that's ok. I have to do something soon tho - because these muffin tops are not pretty!! So, I have signed up and started spinning 2x a week and also am trying to get back into running (ok, so I am starting with walking...) Has anyone else signed up on nikeplus.com? Its great. They text me daily right when I am about to get out of work and head home - that reminds me to detour to the gym and not blow it off. Also, you pledge to accomplish something (40 miles in Jan.) and set a consequence if you dont meet it (no more drinking wine in Feb!!) That is pretty motivating!

I'm in, too.

I would like to lose 5 lbs or so, but weight loss in itself has never been able to keep me exercising regularly.  So, my body has given me another reason to exercise - throat ulcers.  I talked a bit about this in the dail D&E thread.  I've had 5 throat ulcers since October, seemingly brought on by stress.  The first couple required steroids to heal, but I've since found that if I do even just mild stretching and a few minutes of pilates a day, it's enough to keep the ulcers from breaking and send them back on their way.  Just something to counteract the cortisol, I guess?  Anyway, so my focus for exercising will be preventing throat ulcers, but you will hear no complaining from me if I happen to lose those 5 lbs in the process!
