What do you bring for lunch?
Permalink Closed

I'm in such a lunch rut -- every day, I bring either a peanut butter or turkey sandwich on wheat, pretzels or pita crisps, a piece of fruit, a piece of string cheese, and a few cookies.  It's good and healthy, but it's getting boring... and if I don't keep my lunches interesting, I'm way more tempted to buy them.  So, lunch-bringers -- what do you pack?  I'd love to hear ideas that are healthy and easily packable (is that a word?)!

Maybe you could take a green salad or some other type of cold salad like a pasta salad?

Do you have a microwave available?  Sometimes it's nice to have a hot lunch.  I like bringing easy to cook tv dinners.

I have a coworker that always brings frozen, pre-cooked and pre-marinated fish (I can't remember which kind) and she heats it up in the microwave and puts it over a salad and it always smells sooooooooo good.

I usually bring a sandwich or leftovers from dinner before.  It's not the most exciting thing in the world and I should do more to liven it up a bit.

I love soup, so I often make a big pot of soups on Sunday that I can bring to lunch throughout the week.

Any time I cook dinner, I'll make enough extra so that I can have leftovers for lunch the next day.

I also keep a couple cans of soup and a box of instant oatmeal packs in my desk in case I'm to rushed to get my shit together in the morning.

I really like rolled sandwiches for lunch. I find so many more options when I'm making them versus a regular sammy. Maybe some Terra chips for variety.

What about a cute new lunchbox to inspire new thinking? I've been eyeing one that was on Rachel Rays website that was the size of a laptop bag, and had a bunch of compartments inside.

I eat out everyday. :( What if you started bringing a salad to work? Or maybe buy one of those mini cooked chickens at the grocery store and debone it and make homemade chicken salad. (that would last about a week for one person!)

I usually bring lean cuisines and an apple. It's easy.

I also bring soup and a roll sometimes or dinner left overs.

If I'm good I buy frozen salmon and frozen veggies at TJ's and cook them in my microwave steamer (I keep at work).  I also keep lemon jiuce and lemon pepper/salt blend.

I also bring cooked food from home or leftovers. I really hate cold meals so sandwiches and salads never appeal to me - I'd rather go out to fast food then.

If I have time "bento boxes" are my faves!  How asian meals typically are set up:

steamed rice and a few "dishes" of meat, veggies, etc.
