I am deciding between two different items for my BF to give me for CHristmas (he makes me choose my own gift) and I need your help!
I stumbled upon this watch and fell in love. I really need a gold-tone watch and I feel this one is truly unique. I have tried it on and really like it--at first I thought it would be overbearing for my wrist but I don't think it is.
My other option is the graduated silver ball necklace from Tiffany.
I tried it on this weekend and didn't want to take it off! It is so pretty and what I would consider a timeless piece, whereas the watch is more trendy. Also--big concern--BF really likes the necklace but hates the watch. For this reason I am largely considering the necklace but am not completely decided yet. If I do decide on the watch, I could get this necklace in silver, but the Tiffany one is so much better.
I will always - always - go for timeless over trendy. If you love that necklace and consider it a classic, then get that. Plus if your BF loves it, he'll be happy to see you in it, and you'll be happy with it - sounds like a win-win to me. :)

i definitely agree, i love it when my bf loves what im wearing....and i think the necklace is a much better choice for the long run...
I would go for the Tiffany necklace for sure. As an alternative, I found this online. I've been wanting one of those graduated bead necklaces forever but have a had time spending what Tiffany & Co. asks for silver. I haven't ordered this yet but most likely will order it after Christmas.
Yeah, you girls pretty much validated my decision to get the necklace. I just needed to know if I was being crazy for not getting the watch (it really does look better IRL). I love that I can wear it with a lot and for a long time to come, and that my BF loves it. Normally, I get what I like but this is actually a gift from him, so I like that he likes it.
Needsfashionadvice, I like the one you posted...but I think I will go for "the real thing."
Now I can't wait to get it--we are waiting til just after Christmas to get our gifts because we spent too much on other people's gifts!
I like the necklace for some reason, the watch is cute. I have a similar Marc Jacobs watch and I always forget to wear it or it doesn't go with some things. Yes the necklace.
I have seen the watch IRL, although I like it, I feel that whenever watches are done in "goldtone" it always looks very yellow and fake. I prefer silvertone watches for this reason.
I asked my bf for the earrings that go with the necklace you picked out, I say def get the necklace!
I exchanged gifts with my boyfriend last night............. he got me a SEWING MACHINE
I asked for lingerie, perfume, makeup or jewelry and this is what he gets me.
Just wanted to share.
What the hell! Did you even mention anything about sewing? I got a sewing machine one year when I was 17, but that is because I asked for it! Somebody must had suggested to him that would be a good gift for you.
On one of my parents' very first gift-giving occasions (maybe the first Christmas they were dating?) my dad gave my mom a sewing machine. Apparently it was really good, or something, because she still has it and still talks about what a good gift it was.
not that it has anything to do with your boyfriend. That's weird - it seems like you asked for self-pampering items, and even if he didn't get you something in one of those categories, it seems like he still could've stayed with the same theme! that's just very puzzling...

It was horrible. I cried when he put it in my lap. Earlier in the week he mentioned to me that he went shopping with him mom for my present - I thought for a split second holy crap its an engagement ring, then I thought no, don't be silly, its gotta be some sort of jewelry instead.
Apparently he said I mentioned a few times that I used to have/needed a sewing machine and noticed that I frequently send things to the tailor. While all this is true, I work fulltime, dont have any fabric stores around me, don't read patterns, would prefer to shop rather than MAKE.
It was all very horrendous but he meant well I guess.
