master cleanse?

has anyone here done the master cleanse?

due to the overeating of holiday goodies- my body feels like it needs to be flushed of all the toxins in it.  i'm thinking of doing the master cleanse instead of just the water/tea one we usually do.

for those of you unfamiliar- this is the drink you make:

Pint Mason Jar -

-3 Tablespoons of Organic Maple Syrup.

-Entire juice from one lemon.

-1/8 of a teaspoon of our Cayenne Pepper Blend Powder, or more.

-Fill the rest of the jar with purified water.

Make up a minimum of 4 jars or a maximum of 8 jars for consumption each day. If you do not know how much you will need in the beginning, make 6 jars for each day and adjust this quantity as experience dictates.

and you drink this and also a salt water drink in the morning for as many days as you deem necessary.

I've never done this myself. But, one of my friend has done this for 10 days straight. He said that he feels so good afterward and he lost almost 15 lbs.

I've never done it, but I have heard of people only eating raw fruits and vegetables for a week at a time as a less severe cleansing...which is probably the closest I'd ever get because I'd hate not to eat anythin solid for that long

ok, so here is the deal. I tried this cleanse and it was AWFUL.

You it gets all this hype for being great, what is doesnt tell you is the negatives. So I am going to list those since you have probably heard all the positives.

- It puts your body into starvation mode so your metablism slows down to nothing. After going off the cleanse it can take months to get your metablism back up.

- you loose weight and gain ALL of it back within 2 weeks.

- You have to reintroduce food groups after the cleanse in a certain system or you can get very sick. Basicly you go without real food for almost a month.

- you get uncontrolable diaharia , and the book suggest you seriously have to poo every few mintes so you shouldnt do this at at time where you need to leave your house. (sorry to be gross, but its true)

This is a great cleanse to get rid of kindney stones, and to clean out your bowels, however it is not to be used as a weight loss aid. If you want to do a cleanse for health reasons and you are prepared for the after care of the cleanse then go for it. If you are looking for a weight loss cure, this isnt it.

Hope that helps!!

yeah, its not for weight loss.  as i stated above, i feel yucky from eating all this holiday cookies, cakes and other goodies that i don't normally eat.  i can feel my body telling me that stuff is off kilter and i need to clean out the bad...

ttara123- normally we do the "if it doesn't have a face cleanse" which includes only raw fruits and veggies and water and tea to drink.  sometimes we fast on only water and tea for a couple of days.  i thought this might be a different approach.

I would stick with your normal cleanse routine. I find these are much more easy to stay on, and dont have the terrible side effects of after affects.

Let us know what you do!

I like "Kleritea" from Dr. Natura when I feel like I've carbed out. It's this tea that tastes really yummy that you drink at night, and it makes you have to 'go' in the morning (doesn't make you feel like you have to go running anywhere or stalk a bathroom). It was part of a colon clense I did, but it is sold seperately. It's part of the Colonix program, which I did last New Years and I really liked. I'm doing it again this year, along with their Toxinout which is a liver/kidney/misc other organ cleanse.

You'll like the Dr. Natura products. I felt they were well worth the money.

I saw this on an infomercial and was mildly interested, but since you give it such high marks - I am going to order it today! Thanks!

If you want to do a cleansing I would suggest a colonic.  It gets out all of the yucky stuff and you feel great afterward.  I do them about 4 times a year.
