Roll Call: Sensitive teeth?

I am curious how many of you suffer from sensitive teeth.

Here is my story...

I had to have my first fillings ever last year.  Since then, I have had horribly sensitive teeth...mostly just to cold.  However, even tap water kind of bugs them.  I just called my dentist because I just realized it  has been a whole year since my fillings.  I figured that it would have worn off by now if it was just that the dental work kind of bothered them...

I think I also tend to clench my teeth when I am stressed and that might be part of the problem.

anyway...after having this problem for a while it seems like MANY people I talk to also have this.

What do you do for it...do the sensitive teeth toothpastes work?

Kari that is almost exactly my story also. Ever since I had my first cavity filled a little over a year ago my teeth are incredibly sensitive.

I have been using Sensodyne tooth paste and it works well. I haven't stopped using it so I don't know whether or not my teeth are still sensitive without it.

I have had them my whole life. It sucks! I can't tell you how many times I've thought I've had cavities, and it turns out to just be sensitive teeth. One thing my dentist suggested that does help is staying away from whitening toothpastes...he says they can aggravate the problem.

I use ACT as per my dentist. It has flouride which strengthens your teeth.

I have sensitive teeth from time to time because of clenching and grinding. I'm not much help because I can't remember the name of the product but my dentist gave me a small tube of liquid stuff you paint on your teeth in the sensitive areas. Apparently it's supposed to strengthen the enamel in those areas (or something like that) to keep it from getting too thin and exposing the nerves. I used it all up or I'd look and figure out what it's called. I used to use it on my top canines all the time because I grinded (ground?) those babies down to nothing in law school.
