the meeting yesterday was to discuss what he had in mind for me and for us to both air our expectations of what the working relationship would be like. this was the coolest thing, because the position is pretty much created to accommodate their needs and my skills, and I could be 100% honest about my expectations of the working relationship as did he. Also, we had discussed part time, and he suggested 4 days a week to allow me a weekday to work on stylethread. I would also be paid 80% of the salary I was earning when I was working 60-70 hrs/wk. Where we left it is that he had to check the books to see that he can swing it. this is a pretty new agency, and this is the first year they have been profitable (beyond paying salaries, etc.) I will give another update if and offer is extended to me and I accept it. At this point, I am hopeful to learn one way or the other by the end of the week. you never know, he may change his mind on what he wants in the interim. so no congratulatory bag buying for me until the fat lady sings!

Don't give up hope, maybe he's waiting until after the weekend to call. I'll be crossing my fingers and looking in the weekend shopping thread for your new Gucci!

yeah, I've been looking for it too! Every day I check weekday shopping, thinking, "where is D's Gucci?"
bah - it's still dragging out - the email I received this morning:
"Sorry for the delay in our response. We have not been able to have our internal meeting to discuss your employment. We want you to know that we are still very interested in having you join the team. We just need to cover all the bases. Stay tuned."
at least I have plenty of time to re-think the Gucci

nope. no fat lady, no bag... hopefully I'll hear back in the next couple of weeks - this is a tough time of year. Just so you know what I'm dealing with, one of the guys is independently wealthy and not too worried about showing up for meetings, and another seems to be more an investor and not often physically present. It's basically a bunch of major agency executive vice presidents that started their own company - one left daily country club golfing to pursue this. It's a really good opportunity though because they all have established contacts with major global companies and have the ability to land huge accounts and are growing. This is a great opportunity to get in with them on the ground floor. I'm hanging on to this sentence right now: "We want you to know that we are still very interested in having you join the team." and hey, if it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out. I'm kind of 50/50 on working outside the home right now anyway. I'm guess I'm excited about the potential of the opportunity, and the fact that my career still has life left in it...

oy - ok, so I'm wrangling on a dress for a holiday party tonight (I'm wearing the white velvet coat/fendi belt/black dress/tracy reese pump ensemble, and it's the japan american business society function in the old dodge mansion that I go to every year fyi ) anyway - the phone is ringing - I'm not answering - my husband walks in the door picks it up while a message is being left, gives me the phone while I'm trying to put my dress on - so it's the guy offering me the job - he's being broadcast through the house because he's on the answering machine still - ugh! I felt so put on the spot! and he was driving in his car and we have to hash out details... we ended it with talking tomorrow am. that whole thing really could have gone better...
long story short, I got it
and now, after posting the article on the Congolese sapes, I feel like a victim of consumerism buying the gucci.
crap - that's right - I'm in marketing - I'm all for consumerism, right?
to be continued...
