does anyone know any artists, films, or books that strongly capture the idea/look/and feelings of the american southwest? Past and present. I can think of Georgia O'Keefe- but that's about it. It's for some research I'm trying to do. Thanks!!
Does it have to be representation art? Richard Diebenkorn is associated with California but he studied in New Mexico for a while and did a series of Albuquerque paintings.
Not sure how deeply you want to delve into this but there are transcripts of a Diebenkorn oral history online in which he talks about his time there.
Ansel Adams photographed the southwest a lot.
As for novels, a number of Willa Cather's books take place at least partially in the southwest. Death Comes for the Archbishop and The Professor's House come to mind.
