I'm going to two parties tonight, and I can't decide what to wear because they're kind of different scenes. Some background: party #1 is a Christmas party at a friend's house. Party #2 is a 30th birthday party at a laid-back bar.
Neither event strikes me as particularly dressy, although the friends hosting party #1 said they'll probably dress up just because they're hosting. Plus, I want an excuse to dress up! So no jeans. But also no cocktail dresses... something in between. Oh, and also, it's really cold here, which complicates things.
I was thinking knee-high round-toe boots, a skirt, and a fitted cowl-neck sweater, but I'm not sold on it -- and it almost feels too office-y. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
Ritz, I like that idea, and that would be ideal... except I don't have a sweater dress. I was thinking about braving the crowds to check out a few stores... has anyone seen anything like this at H &M lately? That's probably where I'd go.
A sweater dress is a great idea. I think you'd have luck at H&M, they'll have at least one sweater dress. You could also try Forever21, if you have one near you. And, Marshalls/TJ Maxx are usually good for trendy stuff like that, too.
Hi, ladies, thanks for your suggestions! I ended up buying a black sweaterdress at H & M with a tie at the waist -- it seems pretty versatile. I also bought a satin cocktail dress for next week's parties...
But after I got home, I started experimenting with other items in my closet, and I'm torn. I also really like the look of a fitted black turtleneck layered beneath a crimson short-sleeve wrap dress with black boots. Decisions, decisions!
Anyway, at least I have choices now. Thanks again -- I'm off to deliberate in front of the mirror :)
