Themed outfit challenge
Permalink Closed

I have a themed NYE party to go to, the theme is 80's.  So I'm looking for outfit ideas, the challenge... using maternity clothes.  Thanks!

huge tie dyed T shirt (maybe with the knot over on the side)
leggings
sneakers
scrunci

or is that too early-90's? All I know is that's what I wore in elementary school.

oh! and scrunch socks. maybe mismatched. or two pairs.

I don't know how far along you'll be, but maybe you can just wear obnoxious colored sweats and sweatbands and a scrunchie in your hair ala Jane Fonda/Olivia Newton John?

Or you can always get a sweatshirt and cut it so it's off the shoulder so you can go as that girl from Flashdance.

But I would pay good money to see someone at that party show up in these:

Yeah, there is no tee or sweatshirt big enough for me to wear just a top and tights/leggings!  Oh, and I will be almost 18 weeks on NYE.

You could do skinny jeans and a motorcycle jacket of some sort with a t-shirt tied at the waist, fingerless lace gloves, and some gold necklaces.

Whenever I did theme parties in college I would really go for it with the details in hair and makeup.  You can crimp your hair and put it in a side ponytail with a scrunchy and/or create a wave with bangs and a lot of hairspray.  I also liked to do the 3 color eye shadow thing.  Maybe some pink eyeshadow in the inner corner of the eye with some blue or green on the outer corner of the eye and some purple eyeliner.  Hott.

Here's a couple I found (and you will be adorable no matter what you wear!)

80s Aerobic instructor
Stretchy leotard over tight, bright spandex pants. Big shirt over leotard with the shoulders cut off. The over-sized shirt should be tied to one side. The shirt should say something like TIGER! Hair should be up in a high side ponytail. An 80s aerobic instructor is nothing without her sweatbands and hair bands!

80's Chick
Blue eyeshadow and bright pink lipstick. Big off-the-shoulder sweater. Black or a bright color of leggings or tight jeans. Sneakers, or if you're opting to wear the jeans, wear 2 pairs of bright slouch socks or white frilly socks. Hairspray will come in handy for your hair. Either tie it high up at the side or tease your bangs and pouf the rest of it (think 11 yr old D.J from Full House). Can't forget huge hoop earings or dangling ones...and tons of bracelets.

Molly Ringwald
If possible, red chin-length wig. Anything pink - with flowers, lace, and pink finger nail polish. Think "Pretty in Pink" - if you could have a tag-along Ducky, all the better!

Stevie Nicks (mid to late 80's)
Big bouffant very long blond hair w/ bangs on forehead (popular for bangs today). Hair should be much darker underneath the top of the hair. Black outfit with long and flowy black skirt. Platform boots. Manicure. Lots of dark eyeshadow. One black lace glove on one hand with no fingers. Dangling earrings.

Have fun!  You'll have to post pictures of whatever you end up with.

I love this idea that Marq posted (since you love pink!):
