What would you pay for this vintage winter coat
Permalink Closed

Maybe I should not post this here but i need to get a quick response.

I need some assistance. I'm putting this vintage coat on ebay soon and have no idea what i should start the bidding at and what the reserve should be.  Living in Florida, I havent purchased a winter coat ever so i'm unsure what they cost. It is in excellent condition and shows very little to no wear.  The fur, I believe, is fox.

I'm eager to sell it (need holiday money) but don't want to give it away.  Any advice??

I own a similar coat, but the collar on mine is mink. I paid $35 at a flea market. It was in fair condition but needed repairs. Since your coat appears to be in good condition, I would suggest at least that but I'm really not sure about how much higher you can go.

I think blubirdie might know...IIRC this seems to be an obsession of hers.

If I loved it I would probably pay 50 - 75 dollars. I think 35$ would be a good place to start the bidding though. You could maybe post some F/W 06/07 runway pics with it because there were a lot of similar coats in like burberry, and other shows. Might encourage someone to buy it!

i would look up what similar coats like that are going for on ebay.

personally, i am cheap and there are tons of vintage coats with fur collars around here, so i wouldn't spend more than $20...but that coat is very pretty!

your pictures are really good- maybe take one on a model too- and look up a vintage jacket on ebay that is doing really well and use similar keywords.  I don't think you should start too high (maybe 30 or 35? would that be way below what you'd accept if you only got that amount? if not, i wouldnt list as a reserve)- a lot of jackets go for a lot because of bidding wars.  I've seen nice vintage jackets go in the $100-200 range if they are described well, in great condition, and have good pictures.
