Now, before I answer, please keep in mind that I own a cosmetic boutique (just trying to justify my enormous amout of makeup here!) I have a TON. I also have a pretty large bathroom with 5+ drawers, so it's almost all hidden away. I buy those utensil drawer dividers for them, so that I can seperate out things I use more than others.

I also believe that a woman will choose only her most favorite products when she travels. So many times I will just keep on grabbing for a product and use it before I even realize that I am attached to it. So no matter how much makeup you really own...see what you're reaching for again and again and that will show the products that you really need.

I have a ton, too much actually. What I really use though are

my benefit booiiing

Chanel tinted moisturizer

Mascara

eyeliner in brown and black plus a Stila smudge pot for smokey eye nights

Nars combo blush/bronzer

bronze/brown eyeshadow

various glosses and a Nars in deep red

And a highlighter by Benefit that I love because it makes me look so awake and refreshed

Now I don't use all this at once but these are the things I use on an consistent basis

I also have but don't use

Eyeshadows in various colors (blue, purple, etc)

lip glosses galorelike 10 mascaras that I dont use and need to toss

various samples I've gotten

Not that much actually. I throw away the stuff I don't use/like and only keep the stuff I wear on a regular basis.

I actually do need new make-up, though.

WAY too much.

ETA: concealer! I use this every day.

Rarely use:

YSL touche eclat - they really suckered me in on this one

5 eye shadows

3 lipsticks - these were all samples though

1 mascara

4 glosses

2 powder compacts

2 blush compacts

foundation that's the wrong color

various eye liners

I need to start using those rarely used items more. In HS, I used to wear eye shadow every. single. day. Now I wear it once in a while.

I don't have very much, IMO.

On top of the counter I have a small bag that contains moisturizer w/ spf, foundation, blush, stila smudge pot w/ brush, mascara, and my two favorite eye shadows. This is the stuff I use every day.

Under the sink, I have another bag that contains probably 4 or 5 more eye shadows, another blush, a few lipsticks and eyeliners, and a bunch of samples. I don't use this stuff very often, usually only when I'm going out in the evening and want a more dramatic look.

I have A LOT of make up! I have more eyeshadows than I can begin to remember (love love love eyeshadow), a couple blushes, some bronzers, lots of different types of eyeliner and smudge pots, only 2 mascaras of different colors (same brand) and some different foundations, tinted moisturizers and compacts and a bunch of lipsticks and glosses.

That said- my make up bag that I use daily has moisturizer, 2 eyeshadows and mascara.

I really love to be able to play! I also think that my skin is different from week to week so I change colors depending on my skin(<- total justification I know)

Nars multiple in Copacabana
2 Lipsticks...one neutral,one red and one gloss

I carry this in a medium size makeup bag that I carry in my purse...

TONS!

I have the big Sephora train case, and it is FULL. And, not even with facial products, it's strictly make-up.

I know I have over 40 lipsticks/glosses. 4 concealers, 5 founations, etc.... I recently started stocking up on eyeshadow. I think I'm set for now.

It's my favorite though. I have quite a bit of make-up, but I use it all.

I realized while packing everything to move that I have more than I need. I would buy stuff I needed during GWP time and ended up with quite a few "extras". I found some new goodies that way. I gave away a few things that I knew I didn't like but I like variety so I still have a bunch of stuff I don't use much and even some I haven't used at all yet.

I have one vanity drawer and it all goes there, except for lipstick. I have:

four palettes: 2 stila eye/cheek palettes (green and grey), 1 Benefit pink palette, 1 sephora eye/cheek palette (assorted colors)

separate eyeshadows: 1 Stila, 1 Nars, 2 Clinique, 2 random "fun" colors for going out

eyeliner pots: 2 (Stila)

blush: Benefit Dandelion, Stila convertible color, Stila highlighter

foundation: Prescriptives liquid, Stila powder

concealers: 3 (one needs to be tossed, though)

moisturizer: 1 philosophy, 1 cetaphil

mascaras: 2

I also have my brush, a comb, a hand mirror and a small case with bobby pins.

ETA: I also have about 8-9 lipsticks and lipglosses, but I keep them in my work bag or handbag, since I never put them on at home.

I used to be a total makeup whore, but I've cut back a lot, since my day-to-day life doesn't really necessitate a whole lot. Right now I have:

5 Stila eye shadow palettes (one that I use regularly)
2 Stila cream eye liners
1 pencil liner
4 blushes (2 Stila cream blushes that I should just throw away, 1 Nars Orgasm, 1 Benefit Dandelion)
1 Nars cream eyeshadow
3 mascaras (1 regular, 1 waterproof, 1 clear for eyebrows)
1 eyebrow filler kit
4 concealers (YSL Touche Eclat, Benefit Boing!, Stila, Benefit Eye Bright)
2 foundations (Stila regular liquid foundation, Bare Minerals)

ETA: I also have a ton of lipglosses scattered about in various purses.

I purged a bunch of stuff when I moved a few months ago (mostly freebies from ancient Clinique gift packs) so I'm mostly down to essentials. The stuff I use every day, which lives in my makeup bag, is my benetint (the only blush I ever use), mascara, brown, black & gray liners, concealer, and a couple of glosses. Then in the medicine cabinet I have a few other lipsticks & glosses and maybe three or four eye shadows. So, pretty good I think. I think I'd be more inclined to accumulate makeup if I felt that it ever really radically changed my look, but I almost never wear dramatic makeup so anything I'm likely to wear is going to create just about the same effect as anything else.

i love makeup and used to work for a cosmetics company, so for a while there i had waaaaay too much stuff! i've since purged a lot and still do periodic clean-ups. i don't actually wear a lot of makeup, but i love to buy it and play around. i rotate depending on the season or look i'm going for.

right now, for every day i use nars lipstick in dolce vita, stila convertible color in peony on my cheeks, benefit concealer, bare minerals (i think) powder, and maybelline lash discovery mascara. sometimes i wear eye liner, either a stila smudge pot or bobbi brown gel ink, or eye shadow (again, either stila or bobbi brown). besides that, i think i have three or four other blushes and a handful of other lipsticks and glosses. since i got braces i try to emphasize my eyes more than my lips. ;)

I am pretty minimal

On a daily basis I use the following;

concealer (laura mercier secret - it is the best)

stila creme blush in lillium

laura mercier lipstick in courtisane

lancome magic liner (the easy way to do liquid)

powder (laura mercier pressed)

I have a few eyeshadows and liners and a couple more lipsticks.

I blend a tiny dab of foundation with my sunscreen for a little glow everyday :)

Less makeup leaves more money maintenance like hair cut/color, brows, nails :)

I think I might be the winner here. I used to work at a department store and my Lancome, Clinique, and Lauder ladies would always get me whenver they got new stuff in...good thing I wasn't friends with the Bobby Brown and Chanel ladies, or I would have even more makeup. The only items I have bought in the last year are mascara, pressed powder, and eyeshadow base. It probably is time for a purge. I don't wear as much makeup as I used to.

8 eyeliners (3 are used regularly)

I am working with a reduced collection...maybe 30% of my stuff is with me in Atlanta.

1 tinted moisturizer (Stila's new illuminating one)

3 foundations (2 Bare Escentuals, 1 Dior)

1 concealer (Becca...but I NEED to find somewhere in ATL with a Kanebo counter)

2 powders (BE Mineral Veil, Stila IPF)

2 blushes (Nars Orgasm, Tarte Cheek Stain in Flush)

1 bronzer (BE Warmth)

1 Stila Smudge Pot (black)

5 eye shadows (4 Lancome, 1 MAC...I seriously left at least 35 at home. It's sick)

approx 15 lip glosses strewn everywhere.

3 cans of Evian Debriamsteur located in different places.

My skincare collection is sicker, though.

Just mascara, eye shadow crayon, and an eye liner. I use face moisturizer and cherry chapstick, but not to sure if those count! I don't use the eye shadow or eye liner very much and probably wouldn't use mascara if my eyelashes weren't so pale. I used to wear powdered foundation but now I don't think I really ever needed it. I guess I just prefer a "natural look".

Um, I really dont know.

I have about 6 drawers full of it, seperated by catagory (ie: Lip, eyes, face, blush, creams and cleansers. ) I would estimate at least 300 items ... at least. I usually go to sephora and spend $350+ every month and use the new stuff, then get sick of it and move on. My sisters (who are younger) love to come visit me and my hubby so then can get the benefits of an older sister with a major shopping problem :) At least it doesnt go to waste that way ...

Now my fav items are:
