Sweatshirt coat - missing belt question *UPDATE w/ Pic*
Permalink Closed

I got this really cute coat that's made out of sweatershirt material from the Anthro sale. It's supposed to come with a matching tie-belt, but it was missing. There weren't any other ones in the store. They gave me the jacket for an additional 10% off, so it was $38 down from $168.

I originally thought I would get it online, steal the belt, and return the online one. Unfortunately, I just looked online and I don't see it.

Is there anything you guys can suggest? It's a dark gray/blue color jacket and I think it would be nearly impossible to match exactly. I really want to make it work..

Does it have to match perfectly?  If so the only thing I can recommend is to scour fabric stores and have one made.

How about going in an absolute-different direction?  It sounds like a casual coat, how about a faincy belt?  Like a satin ribbon in a complimentary color?

I think this is a good idea. I see people wearing all sorts of cool belts in complementary colors with their coats. Maybe if you post a picture we could give you more specific ideas for color/style of belt?

I love the idea of a more dressy tie-belt!

It's double-breasted, so I think it's going to be a bit harder to add a belt.

I knew you ladies would be able to help!

I think a red sash belt would be really cute on it. Or maybe even a regular wide black belt- I've seen a lot of "normal" belts over coats this year and I think it's a cute look.

Yes red would look good.  What about red patent?

If all else falls you could always get a seam ripper and pull out the belt loops altogether?

Cute coat! I bet it's comfy. I like the ideas that have already been given for a "normal" or sash belt in red or black. Or just removing the belt loops and going sans belt. If I were you, I'd probably go check out a department store or someplace like TJMaxx where they have gobs and gobs of belts and just try on all sorts of different ones with the coat.
