cool website for holiday shopping?
Permalink Closed

I was inspired by all the posts about greenergrassdesign.com (which I checked out and LOVE) in the shopping threads. Has anyone else run across a really neat web-store lately? I'm just trying to get inspiration and ideas for some out-of-the-box holiday gifts, because I'm having a hard time brainstorming gifts for a few people. Like, websites that have stuff you'd never even think to look for

it's not exactly greenergrass, but I was in Fred Flare to put together the holiday card stitch, and saw they had a lot of fun and off-beat gift ideas. Here's a some cards from the stitch:

Designer Wendy Mullin & Nylon mag
editor Eviana Hartman will instruct you
how to make the perfect shirt, skirt or
pants!! Includes 3 Simplicity patterns.
212 fun illustrated pages. Hardcover.

I like these log pillows - it reminds me of the ren and stimpy commercial for a kid's toy - "it's log! it's log! it's better than bad, it's good!"

We loved our mum's tin of recipes she
collected from friends, family and fave
restaurants. Now it is finally our turn!
This amazing kit comes with 50 great
recipes to get you started, plus blank
4”x6” cards to fill in your own recipes.
Lots of handy tabs to divide sections
into courses. Get cooking! 6.5”x5"x4"

Here's a website I like checking periodically because it features a lot of interesting and unique online stores. www.mightygoods.com

And here are a few of my favorites I discovered on this website:

www.elsewares.com
www.chocosho.com

This is for children:

If you can, I would check out the latest Lucky magazine's Holiday Shopping Guide. That's actually where I got the GreenerGrass Design website from. I just went to the Lucky website (www.luckymag.com) and found these websites with funky little things on them:

http://www.finnstyle.com: The mugs are from some Finnish children's book series called Moomin Valley. I don't know about all that...but they are cute as hell.

Purple Moomin Mug - Hemulen - Click to enlarge

Beige Moomin Mug - Fillyjonk - Click to enlarge

Yellow Moomin Mug - Snorkmaiden - Click to enlarge

and these tea-towels are simply gorgeous, almost too pretty to get food all over. And they are pretty big too, 27" x 18". Marimekko Kaiku Tea Towel - Click to enlarge

Marimekko Puu Kuutamossa Blue Tea Towel - Click to enlarge

https://www.mxyplyzyk.com: Stupid website won't let me post images since the pictures are all actually pieces of a Flash-image player thingamabob. But the stuff is super cute. Check out the espresso set (four pieces, crazy bright colors), flowerbud vases (white ceramic with black flowers) and walnut veneer vases (just like it sounds) under livingwares and the tooth-shaped toothbrush holder under bath.

Aww thanks. Those Moomin characters are the coolest things I've ever seen. Seriously, if I lived alone I would probably get the whole dinnerware set and just giggle to myself over my cereal each morning.

love that finnstyle site! great tea towels.

like D posted, i am a huge fan of fredflare. their stuff is super cute, well-priced, and they usually send something else fun along with an order.

i've posted about this website before, but i love buyolympia. they have a little bit of everything. most of the items are handmade and definitely unique. apparently no longer on buyolypia's main site, but queenbee creations has some cute non-leather goods. (and they have a new baby line, too)

lately i am really into screenprints. i ordered a print from jordan crane for my sil. i also like pushmepullyoudesign which are prints made by the same girl who did the owl/etc prints for keds and leia bell prints.
