D wrote: yeah, see, "hot" is subjective. we could still keep the regular database, and have a code thread every week like the weekday and weekend shopping posts. I could just unsticky it every week. we could just make sure we post the code(s) in the database when we post them in the weekly code thread. putting them in the database makes it easy to look them up later, but a weekly thread will alert us all to new really good codes. it's not like I go through and search for a new good code in the database, but if someone alerts me to it, that can be of great value to me.
Side note, but D, has anyone said anything to you about keeping the site updated??? I would certainly hope not! After all that you've gone through, I would really hope that none of the regular posters here would be so cold as to be critical. That just makes me mad!!!
If there's anything any of us can do to help you maintain the site, let us know. I know some html (not a ton), but if you ever need help, please let me know. You work your butt off to keep this site really awesome and so if there's any way that I can help, I'd certainly be willing to pitch in.
yes, and you think it made you mad...
I've got to sit down and make a list of little jobs and see who wants to pick them up. I'll keep you posted.
i like the idea of a sticky for codes- i often ask for the luckymag codes. maybe if everyone put an expiration date at the top, it would be really easy for you to sort through and delete old ones, once a week or every two weeks? If someone doesn't know, maybe they can note "Expires: Unsure" or something, so someone can check it a couple weeks later (or try to use it) and PM you if they notice it doesn't work? Or maybe put someone else in charge of simply doing that so you don't even have to worry about it??
D, I know that I for one would love to have the codes in the shopping & fashion page and would def. volunteer to check codes every so often so that the outdated ones can be deleted. And other little odd jobs you have for the computer knowledge challenged I would be happy to do also. Hell, I browse the internet at work pretty much all day anyway :)
I think that is a great idea! Reesycakes.com uses a format that is alphabetical with expiration dates. Maybe we could use that as the format? Just a suggestion ...
I think its a great idea. It's hard to search the forum and the database is kind of hard to naviage too. A weekly sticky would be awesome (as long as we can repost codes that are good for multiple weeks!!)

yes, this is how our database is already set up. the post on the site would be for codes of specific appeal to those most active on the forum.

I wonder - is is possible that if you clicked on the code it would direct you to the site Via stylethread link, so we would get more commisions from shopping?
The Disney Boards I go to do a Freebie thread of the week and its basically where everyone will post their freebie finds/codes/websites/etc that are good for that week. At the end of the week a new thread is posted and kept for the following week only and people begin posting again.
It would be less work for you D but maybe a little more work for the rest of us that would be posting the codes.

yes, codes within the forum can be hyperlinked with the stylethread code. I don't know how I want to set it up exactly yet.
