So, it's finally, finally time to update my wardrobe. Yay! I'm moving from a company where I can wear jeans and pretty much whatever I want, to more of a business casual environment.
I could use some help identifying versatile pieces that aren't boring. Anyone have suggestions?
The details: I don't wear suits or "tailored" pieces, generally speaking. I like things that are different/funky, and I work in a creative profession, so that's okay. I prefer black and colors that go with black to brown and its family of colors. I'm an average size.
TIA!

Your style sorta sounds like mine but I like colors ALOT. But I work in a business casual environment where my boss is cool with funkier items and I tend to wear non-structured stuff. Or at least, slouchy dress pants with funkier tops. Here's what I came up with really quick.
I would go with printed tops and plain tops with interesting cuts. Also, do you ever wear skirts?
All the things below are from the Anthro sale section. They aren't necessarily all funky, but could be funkified with some jewelery and accessories (chunky necklaces, patterned/colored tights, etc.).
Some tops:
Some dresses and skirts:

Oooh, awesome stuff! Thanks so much! Keep the ideas coming. Zeitgeist - I definitely wear a lot of skirts. In fact, I rarely wear pants, so I have my pants needs covered with a good gray pinstriped pair and a black pair. If I add another pair it will probably be a color or a pair of skinny gray cords.
I am more in need of tops and accessories, in general, than skirts or pants.
I like everything posted, but especially heart these items:
