pardon the very foolish question, but how easy is it to incorporate boots into your wardrobe?  i don't wear too many skirts, and i don't think i'd wear them with jeans tucked in all the time.  how else do you wear them?

fyi: my wardrobe is very casual, and if i bought boots, they'd be flat and round-toed...

It does seem kind of pointless to buy knee-high boots if you're just going to be wearing them under pants.

Do you wear dresses at all?

if you don't wear pants or skirts that often, maybe you could get some ankle boots that will give you the look without it going up your whole leg? Although I don't know that I've seen many flat ankle boots...You could get a pair at payless or Target for about $25 and see how easy it is for you before you spring for more expensive ones. Then, it's not going to be such a huge loss if you figur out you can't wear them that often.

I'm a pantsy girl myself, and get miles out of my ankle boots - they're perfect when I want to feel like I tried a little, but it's too cold/wet to wear any other 'nice' shoes.

I do like knee high boots with bermudas in the fall/spring though - another cute, comfy look for us pantsy girls!

I'd try a couple thrift stores for boots, if you're into that sort of thing.  IMO the already broken in flat leather knee high boots are an easy-ish thing to find at a thrift, and they'd probably cost you $15 max so if you don't wear them you don't have to feel toooo guilty .

I'm also more of a pants-y girl too and typically stick with my anklish boots.  They seem to do the best for me.  I'm wearing midcalf boots right now with my pants because they are the only brown shoes right now and it works for me because they are plain brown and not showy under the pants.  I am on the search for good brown ankle boots though.

I used to wear mainly pants.  Then I got some really cute boots and found myself buying skirts and dresses just so I could show them off.    For when I really don't feel like wearing a skirt, I have some cute mid-calf boots that are really comfy and look great with pants.

Squishy - do you have a nine west outlet nearby??  They have all boots 50% off right now and I got a good pair of black ankle-ish boots there this weekend.  I will post the pic and the name of the style when I get home.  They are square toed though since that is all my feet can handle.  They also had pointys and round toed over the weekend.  my ninewest are pretty comfy.  Also aerosoles are usually good and my mootsie tootsies are very comfy today.
