i am in love with this dress, and am really trying to "make it work" for me. are these shoes alright with it? also, should i forgo the leggings? if it doesn't look right, please make other suggestions. my husband implied i looked too 60s.
I don't dislike it... it's funky, and you can pull off funky, and I do like the boots - I feel like it needs some weight on top though, like jacket or sweater, perhaps?
or simpler boots with less contrast? what other boots do you have? or less contrast between the boots and the leg - gray tights or leggings?

this was my thought too. The red leggings with the gray boots sort of cut your legs in half. I like the idea of gray tights if you want to stick with these boots.
i didn't think of grey tights (or leggings) that sounds like a good idea!
i don't have a huge boot collection. i have black knee boots, black otk boots, grey knee boots (not these), dark brown dorados and very light brown campus type boots.

I love your avatar
I can see black boots with the leggings you have shown. or black tights with black boots or black tights with gray boots or gray tights with gray boots...
I like the idea of tan with it, if you wore the campus-esque boots with it and a sweater to cash it down a little that would be cute too.
The dk brown dorados would be nice too with the color combo, but I feel the slouchy silhouette isn't right for that dress...

These sound like they would look good with the dress and leggings. The dress is very pretty, BTW.
lynnie, the maker is vittorio ricci. i don't know if this is true for the rest of the brand, but the sizing seems even smaller than normal vintage shoe sizing. these are a 9AA, and i normally wear a 7 or 7.5. (they feel like an 8, which is still a little big for me, but since they are tie-up, it works ok) ps i love the ferragamo boots you got, and they inspired two recent shoe purchases from me. (these, which i found at a convention thing recently, and another pair of vintage black suede/brown mock-croc spectator ferragamo flats found at the thrift)
thanks for the input, ladies, i think i am going to try the dress with other shoes/tights options.
i put the two together because i didn't know what else to pair with either item in my closet! i still don't know what to wear the shoes with now.
