Dealing with grey hairs
Permalink Closed

Ok, I'm 34 and during the summer I realized that grey hairs are sprouting from all over my head. And they are not even grey, they're white! My hair color is light brown and I have blond highlights so they are not that noticeable (yet...) but they drive me crazy, nevertheless.

So far I've been plucking out the ones that are the most visible but I can't keep doing that for much longer. My hair is thin as it is.

I assume that other people must have grey hairs, too, so how do you deal with them? Do you get an all-over color to hide them completely or do you find that getting more highlights can do the trick? Or is there a secret remedy I'm not aware of? I'd love to hear any opinions. TIA!

I've had gray/white hairs since I was 8. I have just gotten used to them and am convinced that if you pluck them 2 more grow in. But seriously, I just ignore them and no one really notices unless I part my hair in a way that shows alot of them. Basically I'm no help unless you want to learn how to embrace them.

Its awful I know! I have had them since college. I just keep getting highlights so I dont realize they are there! I guess you can say I am in denial.

I cover mine with all over color.  In fact mine are showing now and I have been hiding them with a wide headband. My stylist has been sick and I cant wait till she gets better my hair is driving me in sane

I have major premature grey and have no choice but to do all-over color, but that's cause my hair is very dark so the greys are unmistakable (and really heavy). But since you have light brown hair, I think highlighting is a great idea, and really, I'm sure no one else notices them other than you. Talk to your stylist next time you see her, to see if she has any good suggestions.

I embrace them. My hair is lightbrown, so I just think of the white and grey as natural highlights.

I have light brown hair and when the grays started driving me batty, I started getting blonde highlights. This way, I can go on with my life and quit obsessing. I refuse to embrace, and when I have to, I will go to all-over color.

I'm sure I'll learn to accept my grey hairs in time, at least the ones that the highlights won't take care of. They just turned up fairly suddenly this past summer and that freaked me out a bit.

Thanks, girls! Hearing I'm not the only one going grey really helped.
