JUST A REMINDER.....In about two weeks, all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sales calls on your cell phone.  YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS....To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone: 888-382-1222.  It is the National DO NOT CALL LIST.  It will only take a minute of your time. It blocks your number for five (5) years.

Aw, I was wondering why I didn't hear anything on the news about it. However I signed up with my and hub's number. Is it a scam or just harmless?

This is a total scam. I've been getting this email for years. I also used to work for a company that managed Telemarketers. Calling cell phones is illegal. It will never happen.

As far as I know, it is harmless.  It shouldn't be a problem that you put your numbers on the do not call list, it just isn't as necessary as the email makes it sound.

and it may be illegal, but i have gotten telemarketing calls on my cell phone, one company kept calling me with these automated messages and would leave voicemails too...i got so sick of them using up my minutes that i had to change my number...so it definitely couldn't hurt to put your number on the do not call list

I have gotten calls on my cell from telemarketers too. I am going to put my name on the list just to be safe!

This reminded me, I get telemaketing calls from the Boston Globe all the time. Hmm.
