Planning a surprise...

As a surprise for my bf's 30th birthday this year I am planning to take him and a few of his close friends to Vegas for the weekend. The friends and I have been planning this for a few weeks now and I have hit a bit of a stumble...When do I tell him? And how? We aren't going until late spring/early summer so we still have a lot of time. But how much notice should I give him? 


I didn't think that part of the plan out very well. Oops.

Well, if you want it to be a surprise right until the last minute, make up something really boring that's happening that weekend so he won't make any other plans.  Pre-pack for him if you can and the weekend of, tell him you have to pick someone up from the airport, then when you both get there have the whole group waiting there as a surprise and wisk him away for the weekend! 


Just my idea! Might be too crazy. Hope it helps!

Ideally, that's what I want to do but I don't think it'll actually work out.


Any other ideas of what I could do?

Well, you could always tell him that you're taking him somewhere for the weekend -- but somewhere boring where you have some family or friends or where you both frequently go -- but then surprise him at the airport by revealing the true destination and meeting his friends?
