getting a handbag repaired

i bought this vintage frame bag:



it is really stunning in person, but it needs some repairs done. my main concern is the strap of the bag which is breaking off. where would i take this to be repaired? i am not sure if the bag is leather, but i guess i could just get a leather strap put on. would i take this to a shoe repair? i'm out of my element! tia!

I would go to a highly qualified shoe repair place. The guy I see does shoes, purses, leather jackets, luggage, etc.
