Chloe - which color hardware?
Permalink Closed

I also need help on which color bag to get. I am still working on my parents for a Paddington for Christmas, but which color hardware would you go with? I love the graphite lock and think it's very unique, but it also makes the purse look very dark. The gold hardware is nice as well. Which would you get?

I really like the gold hardware (and love the bag, obviously). I like the contrast of black and gold and I think it makes the bag look very rich and glamorous. And I just like anything gold, in general.

My thoughts exactly!

I like the graphite better.  I generally don't like gold hardware.

The gold looks richer to me.

Shopgirl, I loved it, I think it looks very unique IRL. Pretty much the same as the pic, although it makes the bag look very black and dark if that makes any sense. Although you're right, it did look matte IRL.

I can't decide! They're both so drool-worthy.

I like black. It makes it a unique bag without being a crazy bag. I really, really like the black hardware.

I like the gold... like someone else said, I just love that contrast of the bright metal against the black.

As much as I like the black hardware and think it looks fresh and new, it's not going to look really special unless someone is really close to you.  It kind of just looks like any old black bag with the black hardware IMO.  The whole appeal of the Paddington is the padlock and the black on black doesn't really highlight that.

i love the black on black BUT...its a really expensive bag and i think the black on black is kind of..."of the moment".  10 years down the line, you may prefer the gold hardware.  I don't know..too bad there isn't a cheaper bag w/awesome tonal hardware.

That is exactly what I was thinking.  I would go for the gold (pun intended)!!

I love the graphite, it makes it that much more edgy and unique. You'd be able to wear it with absolutely everything, too.

I think that it's the hardware that makes the Paddington so unique and beautiful.  I think the hardware fades into the bag in the black and as a result, you don't notice it.  I think the gold is pretty and really makes the key features of the bag stand out.

Thanks! You girls made some very good points - the hardware is the unique aspect of the bag, and the black hardware sort of fades into the bag. Plus, the gold is about $165 cheaper!
