Herbal Essences makeover -- grrr!
Permalink Closed

For years, I was a regular user of plain old Herbal Essences for normal hair.  For some reason, it worked wonders on my hair, and I never found anything better, even when I tried pricier shampoos and conditioners.

Suddenly, last month when I tried to stock up, I couldn't find it anywhere.  I asked a salesperson and she showed me that Herbal Essences has totally changed its product line.  It seems like it's being marketed to younger girls now -- everything's all neon, the product smells way stronger and more synthetic, and they totally discontinued my formula!  I've looked everywhere and I can't find it.

Grrr... I'm all for them trying to expand their reach, but I hate when companies just stop making something -- especially when I'm hooked on it!  Was anyone else a user of the original Herbal Essences (it came in a yellow container)?  Can anyone recommend anything similar at the drugstore?  My hair is long, straight, thick, and not colored.

Thanks in advance -- and thanks for listening to my shampoo gripes!

I thought it was just my hair.  I just bought a new bottle of the stuff to give my hair a break from sheer blonde and couldn't stand the stuff.  It completely killed my hair - very straw-like.

I wasn't loyal to the original or anything but I tried the new stuff and same thing....very straw like.

I was very wary of the new stuff, but I tried the "Hello Hydration" (it comes in a bright blue bottle, meh) and I actually thought it was totally fine. Made my hair fairly smooth. It's not nearly as good as a more expensive shampoo/conditioner, but I can only afford to use the nice stuff sometimes. Just thought I would share that it was perfectly acceptable on my hair!
