I need some ideas. I don't want to get him liquor because a lot of people do that and he's kind a light weight when it comes to drinking. We have a really good working relationship, always joking around, so I want to get him something thoughtful. He got me a gift card to a really nice salon last year for $100 and I didn't get him squat. It was my first year here and was told he never got his other assistant anything. A little background, he's 42, with two small daughters 8 & 9, married, probably has every gadget in the book. I'm looking to spend around $40 to $50.
I have the same promlem, but with two bosses (and they're brothers!) I usually try to get them jokey presents since they really don't want anything big from me. In the past, I've also gotten them stuff for their family. Since your boss has two daughters, maybe something that the family could enjoy together? You could put together a movie night basket with a family movie DVD and include things like a jar of gourmet popcorn and boxes of of Milk Duds, Twizzlers or other movie candy. Crate & Barrel has large ceramic popcorn tubs that would be perfect for somethng like this.
$12.95 large, $3.50 small

That's a really good idea! I think I'm going to do that. I think I'll buy an old-fashioned Christmas movie or something because if I get something new I'm sure he'll have bought it for his kids already.
