I am at retail market to buy for my stores for spring 2007 , and I thought i would post what the trends were so all you girls would have a head start on everyone else!
* Dresses are no longer big :( Hardly any dresses shown, what was shown was tunics that can be worn with skinny pants. The few dresses I did see were mostly red & navy and a few in periwinkle (these were only dressy dresses though for spring weddings) - the few dresses I did see were long
* Ocean Colors - Grey, blue, turq, cream, * Vintage sailor - Red , navy Blue, Cream rope details * Palm springs- Bring green, white, navy
* Skinny pants are staying HUGE. And they have gotten skinnier ... * Wide leg pants with fitted waist
* Trends in denim - - Trouser fits - Skinny Fit * and colored denim is coming back. Lots of camo green and ivory and grey
* Tunic Tops ( to be worn with skinny pants ) EVERYWHERE !!
*Vintage looks. (my fav) - Pencil Skirts -Topper coats -Vintage prints (Large florals, Geometric Prints ..) - Girly blouses
Handbags- * BIG HANDBAGS. All of them were huge!! Brands that I saw and LOVED(trust me you WILL want to buy all these brands) ... Anna Corinna Bulga Botkier Hayden Harnett Kooba
I usually look to the runways for inspiration then work in a couple of trends. I've been doing the tunic/legging trend since last spring and probably won't do it next summer/spring (who knows - but I typically start to jump off the wagon when everyone else starts to jump on.) I will also always wear dresses and skirts - even if they are not the hot trend of the masses, those with well developed individual style will always look good in them. I say wear what you love and work in the trends in moderation

Grrrrrrrr. Am I the only one frustrated by some of these trends?
1) Leggings and tunics just DO NOT work with my body. Not a bit.
2) Skinny jeans aren't going to work either.
3) Huge handbags make me feel ridiculous. They weigh a ton and as a result I end up carrying more than I need anyway, which just adds to the weight issue.
However, I am excited about wide leg jeans and the fact that wedges are still big.
Actually while tunics are still instyle for next spring - leggings were few and far between. That trend is going to die out quick.
As far as skinny jeans not working for your body shape, try the wide leg styles or even a good straight leg that isnt too skinny. I think Red engine makes the best straight leg I have tried on, not too skinny and not to bootcut.
The one trend I really didnt like was the gucci track suits , that just isnt my thing at all. :( It was very 70's vibe and I am not really a fan of that ...
I love wide leg pants, wedges, and vintage prints so I'm really looking forward to new spring lines. Skinny pants are not for me, though - just being realistic.

I agree, that's good in a way. May be I wont be tempted to buy all these new things. It seems like I have a lot of those items in my closet already. Lots of skinny jeans, I'm obsessed with them.
