Even though I don't always love everything they do, I was reminded recently of how much better I like them than the other mags. I was browsing all of sartorialist's coverage of the fashion weeks, and saw this shot he took of a bunch of paris vogue staffers:

I was at a Ralph Lauren event last night that was sponsored by Bazaar, and I could have taken the exact same photo of the Bazaar staffers' legs. Obviously 100% chic and au courant, but more or less identical to each other and to this photo. Whereas I feel like the Lucky staff, while obviously in touch with trends, has much more of an individual personality when it comes to how they dress, and I appreciate that.

Then I had the same thought again when reading the editor's letter in the Bazaar issue that was in my little gift baggie. She was going on and on with this tedious story about the black Balenciaga Lariat when it first came out, and how going to the shows at Fashion Week without the "it" bag is like going to a wedding without a date. And it reminded me of one of Kim France's recent editor's letters where she talks about how a couple of seasons ago everyone had the same gorgeous bag (she didn't say which one), and she got herself all geared up to go out and buy one too, but then changed her mind at the last minute because it just didn't feel like HER and she wanted something different.

I really like how much they cultivate their own personality as a magazine, and as individual people. Also like how they prefer indie designers over the biggest fanciest names. Very cool.

I totally agree.  Though I've had my complaints in the past, Lucky is the best of the bunch by far.

I definitely appreciate the variety of unique styles they have - sometimes they are sort of hit or miss, but I do respect that they at least try to do something different.

That picture looks very chic and I really like the look. I do like Lucky also even if it isn't my style (I still buy the magazine anyways ) because they do cater to the everyday woman. Yeah, there are some expensive labels in there but like you said, it isn't always YSL or Chanel, etc. They have very simple styling while Vogue is very put together from head to toe. High maintanence, ya know?
