So, I'm going to San Diego for work (and fun!), I work for a hospital and on one of the nights our insurance broker is hosting a dinner at Rainwater's on Kittson (I think that's the name of the place). The invite said business casual, but I want to look good. I'm usually the youngest person (by far) at these meetings so I want to look professional, but cute....
I'm thinking I'll probaby wear darker colored jeans...any suggestions for tops or complete outfits?
Should I do a casual, california, beach chic dress? Please dress me dress me dress me...

Wear your dark jeans with a casual top and lightweight cute jacket. SD can get nippy in the evenings. Everybody stays pretty casual in SD, but do wear a lot of jeans. Actually Rainwaters is a pretty upscale rest - you may want to dress up a bit - nicer slacks or skirt. Its downtown, so definitely not beachwear. Besides, once October hits, even people in SD start wearing fall looking clothes.
Rainwater on Ketner, thanks! I kind of got the feeling that it was a nicer place, I have a really cool blazer that I got from J.Crew that i think would look cute, now I just need a top to go under it...

In San Diego we mostly wear dressy casual at night.
My suggestions would be-
Skinny or straight leg dark jeans Tall Heels or Tall boots Printed cami (in satin or silk) Small blazer or jacket (nights have been cold ..) or a dolman sweater with a big belt worn around it.
Also most of us here have a tan (or a fake one) and wear naturual makeup.
