I want a new perfume but I don't want a headache
Permalink Closed

I am in need of a new fragrance/perfume.  I went and sampled a bunch yesterday.  I decided I liked Chanel Chance and the salesgirl was so nice to give me a vial sample.  I wore it today and liked it (as did my husband) but a few hours after putting it on I started feeling sick from it and got the worst headache that lasted all day.  I normally wear Bobbi Brown Beach and don't have this problem and my husband has been wearing Lacoste and it doesn't do this to me (not that I'm wearing it but I'm around him and it all the time anyway).  Sooo...my question is, does this happen to anyone else and if so have you found any fragrances that don't do this to you?  I'll take all suggestions because I really do want to get a new perfume.

yep this happens to me, I also suffer from migraines.I'm a perfume whore so I have a few tried trues that won't trigger a headache. Also when I wake up if I feel a migraine/headacje coming on I won't wear any perfume. Here's a few of my faves:

1) Lovely , by our homegirl, SJP

2)Ralph Lauren Blue

3)Narciso Rodrigues

4)Kiehl's Original Musk................

one perfume I've loved but can REALLY give me a headache is Miracle by Lancome

Hey-thanks for the recommendations-I will give those a try.  BTW-and you'll get a kick out of this because you are my fellow homegirl-I used to sell fragrances at McAlpin's Kenwood, and I never had this headache issue except when I went into the Lancome section and everything they had was headache-inducing to me so I know how you feel about Miracle!

Anything with vanilla makes me feel sick even if I like the smell of it at first. So I have to stay clear of those. Plus I stick with light scents. Right now I use Baby Phat Goddess. That is a good one for me.

i'm very picky/sensitive about perfumes too.  i hate anything too heady because it just makes me feel nauseous.  i'd love to wear all those super-sophisticated scents, but i just can't.

i wear the White Musk body spray from The Body Shop, cause it's not too heavy, being a body spray rather than perfume.  but i don't even wear it everyday...i find some of my body washes leave a scent that isn't too strong, especially the Philosophy body washes and 3-in-1s.

for special occasions, i wear Trish MacEvoy #3 which is so light and nice and not overly potent.

I think Chanel Chance and Mademoiselle are the most intense perfumes i've ever smelled (besides straight-up Patchouli) they give me a headache too.

I like Burberry Brit, Calvin Klein Eternity, Marc Jacobs and Gap Closer. I also tore out an ad last night for Hillary Duffs "With Love," which I really like- it smells kinda similiar to Burberry Brit.

I know what you mean.  Some perfumes are just WAAAY too strong.

I love Hiris by Hermes - it's very clean and very light.  Sometimes a little too light, but the smell is just so clean and crisp.

Sweet but light is Petite Cherie by Annick Goutal.  It's fruity and sweet but not cloying.
