ok, i wasnt' sure where to post this, but here goes....
so i ordered a pair of BCBG shoes from Nordstrom, they were $88. they were sent usps. so here's the problem, we live in a garage apt/back house and our landlord's live in a house just down the hill from us, well, whoever delivered the mail yesterday placed it all on the steps of my landlords house b/c i guess the box w/the shoes in it was too big to go in the mailbox. not a problem, except both my landlords and my husband and i were gone all day. so....their f*$#ing dogs chewed everything up!!! including my new shoes from nordstrom. they ripped open the box and completely chewed the shoes.
i called nordstrom today and they basically can't do anything...i thought maybe if they insured the items the shipped they could help, but the lady just said "next time you ship something, have it sent as "signature required"" yeah thanks lady...that helps A LOT! and obviously the post office isn't open today. and i thought about telling my landlord and having her pay for them...she is very wealthy and $88 to her is nothing. however, it's just not really her fault.
so i guess i just don't know what to do. has anything like this ever happened to yall??? any advice, suggestions, comments would be much appreciated. thanks!

Tell your landlady- I wouldnt approach it by asking for the money back, just explain the situation and ask her if she perhaps has another suggestion to avoid this happening again. That should prompt her to offer to pay for them -

Well, I'd say it's USPS's fault for delivering to the wrong house.

that really sucks.  i have had similar problems  -- we share a driveway with the house in front of us, and ups and fedex have delivered our stuff to the front house a bunch of times.  that house is not even the same house #.  while nothing ever got ruined, the stupid neighbor gotten our packages and instead of bringing it right over (it's like maybe 300 ft), he didn't bring it until the next day. once i spend all this time on the phone bitching at fedex that something didn't come and it was at his house the whole time.


i have started putting my address as XXX Oak St (REAR HOUSE) when i order stuff and it has seemed to help.  i would mention it to your landlord (like alliegurl said -- maybe she will offer to pay for them), and also tell the post office or your mail person -- so they will know next time not to leave packages out like that. 


can you file an insurance claim saying that it arrived damaged?  b/c essentially it did

that is just horrible.  I almost want to say its the landlords fault since it was on their property and their dogs  chewed them up.  I would talk to your landlord and see what can be worked out.  I know this is probably not a nice option (or even the right option...) but you could always put a hold on your charge card for that charge if no one will help you since when you got the item it was damaged upon repair.

I think it sucks, maybe mention it in conversation, but I really don't think it's her fault. I think it's the fault of USPS. She didn't ask for your beautiful shoes to be delivered to her house, you know?

I kind of agree. If she'd known it would be delivered to her house, that would be a different story. I would mention it to her anyway, though. Hopefully if she has $ and is generous, she'll offer to pay or at least split the difference with you.

i would agree that it's not the landlord's fault, it's usps's.  but........... nordstrom is probably most likely to accept damage.  they are sooooooooooo liberal with their returns.  i would try to go to the store and explain the situation.  maybe even call cust. service and try to talk to a couple of different people. 


i've returned Marc Jacob boots before that they didn't sell, but are like ones that they sold and they've accepted them. 


it's worth a try.
