Nice things to do for SO
Permalink Closed

I was just wondering what sort of things you girls do for your SO, just because, or just to be nice to show that you care about them.  I have only been with my boyfriend for a month or two but things are going really well and he does ALOT of little things for me which I find to be so sweet and really appreciate it.  Id like to do something for him out of the blue just to show how much I care about him and what an amazing guy I think he is.  He will also be leaving to go to europe for a few months towards the end of october.

Also wanted to add:  He comes from a very poverty stricken country and his family doesn't have hardly anything, and he pretty much sends all his money home.  He has nice nice clothes as far as brands etc... but he is also extremely picky.  He also has all the major electronics a guy would need.  I could buy him cologone or something, because he does need a new bottle, but I would like to do something on a more personal level.

Another tidbit:  I am extremely overloaded with school work and really dont have alot of time to put into something (hence why i haven't posted on here very much lately)

one of the cheapest and least time intensive things i do is find a cute, sweet or funny card and write a sweet "just because" message in it, then leave it somewhere DH won't find it till later...in his briefcase, in a dresser drawer, under his Xbox controller, etc.  it's a very little thing, but he likes it.

other than that...cooking dinner, just bringing a little something thoughtful home (doesn't have to be expensive, just something that reminded me of him, even just a magazine), renting a movie i know he wants to see, stuff like that...i find it's even more effective if it's something he knows i don't like, you know, a movie i'm not interested in, a dinner he loves but i don't...

Well, I'm actually preparing to wrap up a book I bought for my SO that I'm giving him tonight. He mentioned his favorite books from when he was a kid, it's a series. The books are kind of expensive because they're out of print, so I looked all over the internet and found one for him. We're kind of reading them together now, and I plan on buying each book in the series as we get to it. I know that's specific, but I mean maybe just make mental notes when he mentions something he wants or likes or admires. Something you know he wants but would never buy for himself.

I like Valenciana's idea, too. I love love love the funnies in the newspaper. When I read one that reminds me of him, or one that I just really like, I clip it out. After I get a bunch (or even just a few) I stick them in an envelope and send them to him.

Oh, and if you know how to knit or crochet, I've found that guys love handmade scarves. Then he thinks of you ever time he gets ready to go out, and it's something from you that's keeping him warm!

well, one thing i sometimes do for my BF is bring him dinner at work.  (he works from 4 PM til midnight).  it's nice for me because i get to have dinner with him, and it's nice for him to eat a home cooked meal.  i can tell it really makes his day.  so i would say cooking in general is a great, very warm and considerate thing to do for a significant other.

besides that, watching his favorite TV show together, downloading his favorite music for a car trip, picking something up that he mentioned being interested in.  for example, he mentioned he wanted to get the soundtrack to "invincible," that mark wahlberg football movie, and i saw it today and got it for him.

you sound like you're a sweet girlfriend already.

I like to give my BF something he wants/really likes but would never buy for himself (he doesn't buy a whole lot for himself anyway, so this is easy for me).  For example, I am looking for the perfect throwback T-shirt of his favorite baseball team right now.  When we didn't live together, I would bring him little snacks I knew he would like when going to his apartment.
