socks!

now that boot weather is upon us (well, it's upon me, anyway, and if it's still warm where you are then i hate you!), i'm trying to figure out the best socks to wear with all my boots.  i used to be a major sock girl, i'd buy socks all the time - cute, printed socks that were generally on the thin side.  but now i'd rather buy shoes (heehee), and my sock collection is pretty low.  i have short white socks to wear with sneakers, and a few pairs of knee-high socks (pink by vs), and not much else.  the socks i do have are pretty thin so they don't add much warmth/comfort with boots, and a lot of my boots have pretty high heels so i wouldn't mind a little extra cushion.  so...

what kind of socks do you wear with your boots in the fall/winter?

I'm with you- I HATE spending money on socks!! I usually look in Marshalls'- they'll sometimes have these Adidas ones that have some extra cushion-y stuff on the bottom. They sooooo comfy and when you find them there they're usually only like $3 for a pack of 3.

I saw some cute, tall, printed socks at Gap the other day.  They came 2 pairs per pack and I think it was 3 packs for $15.  They're not online unfortunately.

Target has cute trouser socks as well.  That may be worth a shot for you.

Target and Kohl's always have really cute knee socks, that's where I usually get mine.  Or occasionally TJMaxx or Gap.

I get cozy knee-high knit socks from Macy's and Target. I stay away from the stuff that sheds like mohair though.

target and old navy have the cutest print and pattern socks — and relatively inexpensive. i check the stock everytime i'm there because boot season is really long where i live so my socks take a beating. i need a drawer full to make it through.

i love wearing great socks with boots — i seem to always find myself in a situation where i have to take my boots off (someone's house for example) and even if they don't match my outfit entirely, it's a fun, colorful suprise in the dead of winter. :)

I hate socks and have a low collection too.  In order to avoid spending $$ on socks I requested them in my stocking last christmas.  I think mine came from target or walmart but I like them a bunch.  very warm and work well with boots.

I agree - TJ Maxx or Marshalls or Target for dress socks under boots - just picked mine up yesterday for all my new boots!  Usually dark and plain and high enough where they don't ride down your ankles in boots.  Cashmere are awesome if you want to spring for the high price - I have found them at the discount stores on occassion later in winter.  Realllllly cozy.

I just ordered some fishnets from sock-dreams.com and shipping was fast, as well. They have a TON of cute, affordable socks to choose from. I'm think of getting these next.

I like getting knee-high or over the knee socks that go up higher than my boots...you can fold them over the top when yuo're wearing pants and it makes the top of the boot more comfortable.  I'm like the other girls, target, tjmaxx etc.  I like the nine west brand socks they make lots of soft knee-highs.

Last winter I discovered cashmere socks. Got a bunch for like $7 a pair at Loehmann's. BEST THING EVER. So incredibly warm and cuddly and soft.
