I gave a week's notice at work today to take a much better-paying freelance (my salary is over twice what I'm currently making) job on location. I'm really excited to be coming back to the East Coast (and the South! Cracker Barrel! Sweet Tea!). I'm moving out sometime next week.
I have no idea where in Atlanta I'd be staying, but I know that the show is paying for it.
Is there anything I should know (shopping and dining especially)?
Is this permanent? Paid Move? BF coming? come on Sandy!
Freelance for 4 months, with a possible extension if the network orders more episodes. I'd be doing what I'm doing right now...accounting for TV.
I'm keeping my place in LA and paying for that myself, but it's all expenses paid otherwise. I have 4 months of hotel living to look forward to (how am I going to choose what shoes?!).
BF is coming and we're both going to be working. I'm getting paid more than double my current salary and nearly 4 times what I was being paid last year (which is either a testimony to how lucky I am or how badly I'm being paid right now)
Woot! We'll have to do a get-together. It would be great to see you again. Lenox is great. And Phipps is right across the street from it. Where will you be living / working? Midtown? B'head?
Congratulations. And how nice that the BF can come out too!

What happens after 4 months if they don't extend? Are you then jobless?
yes, but as a freelancer I can still collect unemployment while looking for my next job. The job market is a bit cyclical, but as long as you're good at your job, the word spreads. Also, there's a huge labor shortage in my field right now so the job market is def. in my favor.

Well, I'm sure you'll have no problem then. Best of luck to you!
