What am I supposed to do?

I ordered a scarf on eBay about 15 days ago and the seller said she shipped next day. She shipped first class mail, so it should have come in like 3-5 days. I contacted the seller and asked her to verify when she shipped and said I hadn't received the item yet.

She went into this long thing about how I should ask around my apartment complex and check the post office, etc. etc. I said I'd do both and give it a week.

So, what do I do if a week passes and I still don't have the item? I paid through paypal - so do I report it as an "item not recieved" to paypal? Or should I contact the seller again and ask for my money back?

Ugh...I hate this stuff :(

If you don't receive it in a week I'd contact the seller again and give her a chance to resolve it without having to involve paypal/ebay but if she doesn't do anything then file a claim via paypal.  Hope it all works out.

hmm she's giving you the run around awfully close to the 30 day mark.  I'd ask around your apartment office and then file a claim on paypal on her.  If you post signs and ask around for a week then email her again about it she's going to drag it out and then you'll lose out.

Hmm..I thought it was 45 days?

I guess I'll probably contact her again on Friday.

hmm 45 could be right.  I've been hearing 30 days on another message board lately.

This happened to me recently, but I was the seller. I had mailed two different packages USPS priority mail and after two weeks, neither had arrived. Both buyers contacted me asking for confirmation that I had shipped, which I totally understood, and I sent both their confirmation number from USPS. I also said I would refund their money if the package in question never arrived. Both did within a few days, but my point is, the seller should not be giving you the run-around here. Does first class mail have shipment confirmation numbers?
