I'm with Wicked, take the offer, stick it out for a while and bankroll the extra $$$ and continue to look for something else. If it becomes unbearable then use the bankrolled $$$ to live off of till you find something else.

I think I would split the difference and take the job, but seriously persue work elsewhere. A boss/job that makes you cry isn't worth an increase in pay imo.
