I'm not totally sure what you mean by a fake lace..but there really isnt' very much room to adjust them.

What I meant by a fake lace is that some boots have a lace but it can't be used for adjusting the size of the boot.

Thanks for the info, I think I'll steer clear, my calves are bigger than the norm so if these boots can't be adjusted, I can pretty much guarantee that they won't fit.

oh, gotcha! I thought you meant the actual laces were fake and I was confused.

but yeah, I think they're more of an illusion than something you can actually tighten the boot with. Sorry!
