Do you wait in line for grand openings/special events

just curious?

I am seriously planning on being at H&M's grand opening in Pasadena (doors open tomorrow at noon) at 5:30 AM. They will give gift cards ranging from $10 to $300 to the first 100 in line.

Of that I can remember, I've only ever waited in line for the two different times my Macy's had a grand opening. Not more than 30 minutes each time and even at that only because they were giving away gift cards at the door. But I do like to shop early before it gets crowded so that's another reason I will wait around for a store to open.

I'm really thinking about going to this one too! are you going by yourself or with friends?

I've only did this one time with my cousin, and we woke up around 4:30 in the morning, i couldn't believe i did that. It was fun, memories :)

No, no, and NO. I seriously get heart attacks from that kind of thing. It is horrible for my mental health.

I can barely handle going to H&M on a Saturday..there is NO WAY I would go to the grand opening. But that's just me and my anti-social-crowd-hating ways.

The grand opening of the H&M in SF was madness (I read about it in the papers). People were like just getting naked and trying on clothes in the middle of the store because the lines to the dressing room were so insane.

I dunno..I wish I were able to handle busy/crowded stores, but I just hate it and makes me anxious. If I even go shopping on weekends, I make sure to get there right when the store opens so I at least have like 1 hour before mania begins.

Never.  I'd never wait more than 1/2 hour and if there is more than say 20 people.  It's just not worth the stress of being in close proximity to strangers.

it depends on the shop. I wouldn't wait in line for the regular opening of h&m, but i would and have done it for a good sale.

did you see the article in yesterday's la times about the h&m opening?

I'm the same.  I rarely go to stores on weekends because I hate the crowds.  I've been known to become a raging bitch in Target on Sunday afternoon.  I usually shop during my lunch hour for that reason.  If I want to do a major shopping marathon, I'll take a random Tuesday off to do it.

I have, however, spent hundreds of hours waiting on line to see bands.

it depends on the store. I was all excited for H&M's opening in Pasadena, which is 10 min. away from me. I was planning on going early, then I found out it was at noon, which is the time I have to be at work....so no H&M grand opening for muah.

I haven't, but I would wait in line for something like that if they were giving out gift cards. Free Money! I've done more annoying things for money (like, you know, go into work). I wouldn't go alone, though, I'd convince a friend to go with me.
