I should note that the weddings that I did not attend b/c I wasn't allowed to bring a guest were out of state and I wouldn't have known very many people there and I would have had to have paid for a hotel room for myself and at that point in my life that was an expense that I couldn't really deal with. If I had been allowed to bring a guest, it would have been cheaper for me, too.
