Shoe Clips

I've been looking at some vintage shoe clips on ebay (through ST link of course) and was wondering if anyone ever used them before? Do they ruin your shoes or leave indentations from where they were clipped on? I don't want to buy them if they are going to damage the leather.

I have never used them, but I know D posted about a vintage pair she has. I think it was a week or two ago in her post about what to wear to a magazine party.

ooh yes, I loves me some shoe clips!

zeitgeist is right, I had some on in the party outfit thread.  in that pic, I have them on a pair of manolos and they have never damaged them (visibly).

they can also be worn on the outer top of boot shafts too - kind of like where a buckle would be. you can also put them on sandals - pumps are not the only option.

there is a lot of misunderstanding out there between what is a shoe clip and what is a dress clip.

this is a shoe clip - you can bend the little tabs out gently with your fingers, slide them onto the footwear, and pinch them in place to secure them.  Yes, they have little teeth (tiny triangles of turned up metal on the tabs) to help hold them in place. I just looked at my manolos, and even though it's virtually impossible to see because of the location, there are a couple of indentations inside the shoe where the teeth of the clip were pressed in. I don't plan on selling my shoes, so this is fine with me.

these seem to have a larger clip that is hinged - not sure if they have teeth or not. this is not a common style though:

this is a dress clip - do not put them on your shoes - they hurt like hell (I've tried):

my outfit choices have changed though - so don't worry about giving me any advice on it! I'll be posting some pix later today.
