I am trying to use the clothes I have in my closet instead if buying clothes that I really dont need. I have had this skirt for about 2 or 3 years and have never worn it! I have trouble coming up with an outfit for it especially in the summer. So maybe it would be easier to work with it this fall. It is similar to this Target one except a little longer, probably a couple inches above the knee.

well that skirt seems like a really neutral color that you could wear with a lot of things!

I have one very similar to the one you are describing. I too have found it a bit hard to work with. I usually end up wearing it with textured tights and boots and a sweater. Boring, yes, I realize, but it works...
